    FX Wildcat consistency problems

Yes, if I do need to use the screw and dial it in. That is next on the list. I had to mow all day, so the cuts into my shooting time, dang yard! But having an 8 acre range is pretty cool.

Could be, i dunno, some of it looks fine. My question is if I back it down 3-5%, that puts me in the 960 fps range, where the es is much worse???

    FX Wildcat consistency problems

OK, I admit my head is hard. I thought I was starting somewhere in the middle and working both ways, but until someone challenged me, it occurred to me that I wasn't working in the upper direction far enough. I thank you for setting me straight and making me think. As to the question of reg...

    FX Wildcat consistency problems

Yes, I tried both ways up and down. I've picked spots along the way and went from bottom to top of hammer strike. The hammer is factory 11.4g. I tried a softer spring with no improvement. The overall rise and fall in velocity is evident from ~550fps to well over 1000fps, no problem...

    FX Wildcat consistency problems

I've been using a Garmin chrono so I decided to drag out my Crown and try it to verify that's not a problem. I haven't fired the Crown for a few weeks, so I pumped it up to 200 bar and the first 10 shots were right on the money. 830 avg 4.6 es 1.6 stdev Still no findings that would answer the...

    Here's the string. I started all new 1st reg at 145 bar, 2nd reg at 105 bar, hammer on 6, screw out one turn. Virtually no change from all the strings I've shot. 1 832 2 860 3 887 4 884 5 866 6 886 7 861 8 831 9 853 10 876 11 847 12 877 13 889 14 860 15 885 avg 866 es 58 sd 18.8

    FX Wildcat consistency problems

Still trying to move forward. Today, I checked: * the hammer for marks where the sear engages. No marks, it looked like new, and very well finished. the only real thing I noticed is the bore for the hammer is close. Not too close, but if the spring ends were not exactly square, it might...

    FX FX Impact Tuning Conundrum.....

The macro wheel is kind of confusing at first. The micro is always where your hammer is actually at. The numbers on the side are really where your hammer tension is at. The wheel numbers are misleading as there is an internal adjuster that puts the wheel in the "range" of appropriate...

Tuning A tuning test for the experts

My point was that a so called "reviewer" called this a "well controlled" string, which, to me, is a joke. The cheapest pcp I've ever shot was the notos and it will EASILY keep all it's shots in less than 10 es and the sd will be very low indeed. So to say a gun costing many, many times what a...

    FX Wildcat consistency problems

Another day, another round of tuning. I started the day by: *checked pin probe fit in barrel. The pin is adjustable, and yes it was pushing the pellet past the xfer port and yes it was adjusted to seal properly. ??? *maxed the hammer out and started shooting. I started at ~75 bar and got around...

    FX Wildcat consistency problems

Well, the saga continues. Today I tried pellets again, and the extreme spreads went from a low of 16fps for 6 shots, to over 100fps for 15 shots, most were in the 35-50 fps for es??? I'm really losing this battle. I have the hammer screw all the way in, and running it on 5, 6&7. with velocity...

Tuning A tuning test for the experts

The string only included to "good" shots, nothing off the reg as it were, as the RW technically is not regulated.

I forgot to mention, I did check the probe alignment and ir was perfect. Also the pin probe is a bit less picky about alignment as the whole of the pin is open.

    FX Wildcat consistency problems

First, you are so right, these are fun guns to tinker with. Here's where I am now. I had not cleaned the barrel. this is a new to me gun and it occurred to me that could be an issue. BUT, I really didn't think that could make such a huge difference, so I didn't have much confidence in it...

Tuning A tuning test for the experts

This was a review of a Red Wolf, and I agree that on target is the proof, BUT, with so much STDEV and ES, this is not a 100 yard rifle with this tune. The reviewer called this a "well controlled" string. I was just curious what other might think. I certainly realize that tuning can resolve some...
