What .25 slug for no choke 1:22 twist?

The under sized slug is an oddity obviously. So on a more typical slug - I shot a 38gr. .250" 2S shallow HB slug @ 940 FPS for a long time out of a 24" barrel. I bought a Corbin swaging setup to make the 38gr. That was when Micheal Hossack explained how it was an idea twist rate to shoot...

What .25 slug for no choke 1:22 twist?

I have 3 TJ 1-22" barrels. They will shoot slugs, but not too well at slow/low power levels. Under 90 FtLb or about 940 FPS usually not to good. Crazy as it is a .2475" 50.4gr. @ 940-950 FPS shoots MOA or better out of of my 30" barrel. The 48.8gr. Scout type slug just might work.

Karma Airguns Slug Testing: Statistically Significant Groups?

An airgun buddy brought up the statistical dispersion of large sample size awhile back. We have been shooting a lot of 25 round groups. It makes the airgun "5 shot standard" look like a complete lie. Not that hard to get 5 round sub MOA at only 100 yards using high BC slugs. 25 rounds is a...

    Tuning Bulldog Taurus 257

That's an impressive build. I like custom guns way more then purchased ones anyway. That black with some blue are the same colors I used on my custom build. After machining the new valve assembly for .257, how's the cocking force needed to get that much power? Or does that new valve assembly...

N/A Got an accurate gun? 100 yard 5x5 challenge

Here's a target from a few weeks ago. Since the Mora's in pieces awaiting a new .243 barrel and a bolt I need to make. I made several scope adjustments during these groups. The scope was still off, but not important while testing things out. The separation between dots kind of shows what I...

Karma Airguns Slug Testing: Statistically Significant Groups?

The biggest change in this hobby/sport is manufacturers need to build pellet guns for pellets only. They've done a great job with the pellet PCP. But, shooting light short slugs out of these is just ok at best. That's why MOA at a 100 yards seems a decent gun/slug combo. Think .25" - .5" MOA...

Good info. Finally someone calling out the bull poop about slugs going to sleep. (y)

    Slug Opinions

That isn't necessarily true. Too many variables in barrels for an assumption like that. I shoot a slug that's .0025" undersized a .2475" diameter from a .250" groove .243 bore barrel. So don't let someone else's "facts" stop you from even trying different slugs. A .218" in a .217" or 2175"...

    100 yards and beyond…?

I'm one of those that likes shooting long range. 100 feels too close. Steel at 300 & 400 yards. Squirrels at 120 - 300. :) Built up a long range slug gun too powerful to shoot at Starlings safely anymore. So just started using a low power .22 pellet pusher I have. Still got to shoot slugs out...

Skout Why do Skout use Poly O rings?

I spoke to an engineer at an oring manufacturing plant about polyurethane a couple years ago. He said Buna is good for static applications. Poly. is for maintaining a seal with moving parts and wear resistance. I have 2 -90 durometer. polyurethane orings inside of a balance valve I made...

N/A Best *Obsolete* or *Discontinued* PCP Rifle?

@Ezana4CE - Here's a couple photos of the Kalibrgun Colibri .22 cal. Left handed shooters wouldn't be very comfortable with one. For the 2 reasons I like it. Cocking/Safety. It has a left hand short 1.300" straight slide cocking mechanism, with a toggle type Safety under the shooters finger...

N/A Best *Obsolete* or *Discontinued* PCP Rifle?

The Colibri is the only .22 cal. that will be with me until kick off. It's a one of a kind. Anti double load, cocking like all guns should have, safety right where it should be and in a small light weight gun.

How to Use a Corbin S Press - A Thread Geared Toward Beginners

Like NWIND said, I would go for heavier slugs in .25 cal. . About 31 - 50+ gr. would be better for a .25 cal. The cores should be cut as close to a clean flat cut as possible. Put those side cutters away. Wrong tool for the job. Those angled cuts can break a HP eject pin tip off if used to...
