OK so I have an ego just like most the guys here have ...And am more than happy to post some good groups on the rare occasion I actually show what my gun can do . So today I'm shooting at my trusty pine tree that catches so much hell in my back yard and I can't seem to miss !! I mean I'm pitching a Bitch !!.......! I rock is all I can think to myself and to prove it I'm setting up my 25 m target and bout to show out !!!
. Well heres how im shooting with my trusty yellow rifle ...Not bad for a one eyed boy .I'm almost having to be double jointed patting myself on the back so hard ... I am one impressive Dude ..

Well here's what actually going on . Fresh 25m face and all of a sudden I'm shooting 9s ...WTF .
Nope when you shoot a fresh face every shot you see what the gun is ACTUALLY doing . And what u are doing . So right as I'm about to call ColdKing Out and getting ready to whoop his ass with a 35 year old springer I come back down to earth . When you pop a couple pellets thru same hole the paper gives and rebounds . It look impressive as hell but grab a 25m target face and you can see what is going on an sometimes ( most times ) it ain't pretty but it is real .
Man knowing the truth SUXXXXXXXX
Cold King rest easy my friend . :)

I'm the same here Joe. I can make a one hole group with 40 pellets. But let me move over to the WRABF 25 meter targets and it wakes me up.

edit: want to really have some fun? Set up a target with 40 bulls and shoot at 10 meters. Just 33 feet and most of us have a scope you could put on a 338 Lapua for 1,000 yard shots. And see how that works for you? ;)

Yeah most guy don't truly realize how small that 10 ring is at 25m . It about half the size of a 177 pellet . My personal best is a 241 out of 250 on a single card . I've shot a couple of 240 cards and 235 is about my average here in my back yard where the wind is kinda blocked by my privacy fence . I just rebuilt my mini an it's still settling in and hoping when my new Leupold gets back I can shoot a 710 . It took a long time to shoot a 700.
For guys who think it an easy feat with a springer grab ya some targets and leave the Mulligans out :)
My personal opinion is a card with no 8 or lower is pretty tough with a spring rifle . It's the " where did that come from " shots that ruin a good score

I think you guys just need to practice more!! I shoot one hole groups out to 100 yards all the time with a springer. It is always one little tiny .177 hole!! O, wait... I only shot 1 pellet. Nevermind. LOL!!

Seriously though, those cards are humbling as hell. Joe you really shoot some impressive cards with a springer!! Hell, I barely do that good with a pcp.

Joe you can put packing tape or duct tape on the back side of your target and it helps some to keep the pellets from ripping when they go thru. Some times I put the wide packing tape on the back and front. I'm almost to the point with the 300s that its a waste of time shooting 10 or more pellets at the same target spot. I've gone to the 25 or more bulls and at least I can tell what the pellets are doing. This is only up too 25 yards since that's my limit with the fwb 300s. And most of the time if I'm in a hurry my shooting is at 20 yards since I have a bench set up that lets me open garage door and I'm ready to shoot.

when I shoot 50+ yards with one of my other rifles, then I use same point of aim and hope for a one hole group.(maybe I should punch a 1 inch hole in the target to start?) ;)

Yeah I been making targets backstops from some really heavy duty cardboard boxes that I get from my job and some oil dry pads . Stops the pellets and doesnt make a loud noise . Doesn't Take a lot to stop one pellet from one of the 300 rifles but if you keep pounding the same spot it'll get software quick when they all go into the same hole . My main backstop is an old archery pit on stilts with a radial tire corded belt nailed to the back ...it'll stop a 22stinger .
I'm off next week and I am hoping that at least one o the days I can catch the wind laying down to try a couple things to my rifles ...I got 3 of them at the moment :)

"JoeWayneRhea"I wish I knew ...A buddy at the Arlington TX club had some on heavy back paper as practice targets . I just Xerox them . They are handy because they take up less space on my target
Here is a practice target that I made up using the dimensions that are published for that bench rest target. If you print it actual size it is as close as my drawing skills will allow. If you shrink it to fit on a single page it comes out a couple of percent smaller than the official target. The nice thing is either way it prints on an 8.5 x 11 page.

Well, I finally got settled in and shot a BR card. This one is a few percent smaller than the official but close enough. On the first two strings all was good (ish). Then I decided between two and three to tweak the trigger's second stage. Then I shot the fourth string and after that did a sight adjustment. I guess if you start out poorly the only way forward is up. ;) and apparently I can't do the math either... total looks more like 165 than 169.

Model 36 stock out of the box, H&N FTT not weighed, not sorted, 2x7x40 BSA scope. Front bag, no toe bag. Weather was overcast with light and variable winds.

Good shooting!! I have been shooting 100 bull targets that have .25" bullseyes. Just got some BR cards (Thanks!!) that I hope to try tonight after work. I have to admit after spending a lot of years shooting 5-10 shot groups, these BR cards and multi bullseye targets are TOUGH!!
