HW/Weihrauch  HW 50 ARH plinkers tune

Morning All Im still gaining some muscle so have been shooting my HW 30s and my 50s a lot. I have a 50 in .22 with a Vortex kit in a ARH Walnut stock and its a great little shooter, but after a long shooting session it started to get a little hard to cock. So When my new 125th anniversary 50 in .177 in the red Lamanite stock should up I shot about 100 pellets through it and decided to drop in a ARH Plinkers kit in it. Its supposed to have modest power and easer to cock. Did the usual clean debur and dropped it in. Shot it a couple times to make sure every thing worked, then cocked it let it set for an hour then took out and shot it. WOW mush easier to cock but the chrono numbers were crazy. Before tune it was shooting the HN Baracuda 8, 8.44gr. 4.51 head size at 675 fps Avr. First 10 shots Avr. 701.5 with high of 706 and low of 698 for a 8.3 spread 2.5 std.dev. and it did this for the next 100 or shots, kept waiting for a change but didnt happen. the gun is shooting great groups with these HN havent even tried other pellets yet, Ill do that today. Very happy so far.

Life, and airguns.

Just doing some reflecting. Life currently is gut punching me financially as it is to many of you here. My Airgun finances have been all but crushed by more important obligations. That and my limited, sucky range access have greatly affected my enjoyment of this hobby. However, I can’t see myself giving it up. Sigh, I just need 6 months without another punch to the gut. Sorry to be a downer. Hang in there all!

PCP Rifle  WTS FX Panthera 700 .22 and 9l tank

I have recently made the mistake of diving into the wonderful world of powder burners and long range fun so unfortunately I am letting go of all of my Air rifle stuff. Last thing left is my babied FX Panthera 700 in .22 Was purchased new by me from UA and has been nothing but awesome. I just cannot justify it sitting in the closet getting neglected while I enjoy my other toys. I would prefer local pickup and to sale as a whole but money talks and things can be worked out. I have attached retail prices just as a heads up, I'm not expecting to collect them. Located in SW FL 33912. Can take whatever pictures you request or videos. All equipment has been well taken care and is in like new condition. Asking is $3,100 mind you all prices do not include labor/tax. I am also sure I am forgetting a lot of little things. Would also possibly consider trades - edgun leishy 2

AAFTA Nationals 2024

Well, I just came back from a fantastic trip. What a great match!! Holy smokes. **** Massive props to the Mass group.**** Let me throw this out there. There were so many elements of this match that ticked all the boxes in field target. Let me just name a few… First of all the most prominent thing was the two angled shots that were about 15 yards at 45°. What an absolute joy to shoot!!! Then they had targets in super contrasting areas, which definitely challenged those even with perfect eyesight. Throw in a little bit of variable wind, positionals at one yard less than max, crossing pathways, multiple directional shots, in the trees, on the ground, between slits of trees, lanes shooting under a vegetation archway, I can go on... This was so much fun being challenged in all these ways. It was tough, but it was good. I would rather say it was incredibly challenging because everything was certainly not impossible or defeating. Everything was predictable with mastery of your craft. Even the targets were easily distinguished and identifiable. Bright regulation colors allowed optimum target-acquisition time and distinguishability. Personally, I am a huge fan of the one-shot-per-target format. Although I understand that there are a few folks out there who prefer the other method. However, these guys beautifully accommodated both preference styles with grace.

On a personal note, I enjoy immensely traveling to new shooting environments and attending incredibly well-run events. These guys have their sh*t together. It is such a pleasure when a course is laid out well—all within regulation, with a keen eye for detail.

And boy, did the weather sure deliver? I couldn't think of more excellent shooting conditions. We certainly got lucky on that one!

Yes, it was quite a ways to travel. However, I would say it was 100% worth it. I want to encourage fellow members of the shooting community, who typically shy away from traveling great distances to compete, to make the effort. Whether arriving at certain venues that provide a positive experience or a negative experience, it gives you insight and a barometer, and certainly an appreciation for those who do a job well. And these guys did it... This is one of the country's locations that I would recommend visiting and returning to. Even the clubhouse had pictures of field target shooters from the 1800s on the wall. They just didn't have the modern targets or the bum bags yet. At one point, I walked into the office and introduced myself to ask a question, and I believe this gentleman was one of the board members, if not the president of the range. He gave me a personal tour of all the old photographs on the walls, including an excellent history lesson about the area and the range, describing the details of it being the oldest shooting club in the country.
Even the medals were fantastic and classy. Although I would have loved to have taken one home, the best shooters in the country did.

The efforts the local team put forth were undoubtedly recognizable.

The Field Target community would like to thank you for such an outstanding Nationals this year.

Bravo, gentlemen. 🍻

Long Shot on a Gray Squirrel

My dog spotted this squirrel beyond 50 yards. If heard it moving around probably with some others and thought they might be another type of animal. When I saw the dog was locked in I started scanning the area through my rifle scope. When I spotted the squirrel it was on the ground and sort of tough to see. By the time I got my reticle on him, his tail was facing us. I took a Texas heart shot and dropped him on the spot. It literally just fell over. Since I’m training hunting dogs, I took them over to the squirrel and praised the one that alerted me first. They were later rewarded with squirrel meat.

Below is the squirrel. It was shot with an Edgun Lelya 2.0 in .25 topped with a 3-12x44 Vector Veyron FFP. I shot a JSB King match diabolo 25.39 grain pellet. It entered through the right thigh and did not exit. There was blood coming from the mouth, so I assume the pellet reached at least one lung. Its internal organs were a mess.

Here is a view from the area I shot from.

For me, 50 yards is a long shot with a Lelya.

FX  52 squirrels & 1 Fox summer!

Well, I am officially an FX fan boy! This post is just an account of my real world experience with using an FX rifle as a tool first and as a toy second. I had a major infestation of ground squirrels on my property that gave me an "excuse" to buy an FX Dreamline GRS in .22 I went to war all summer and as of last week my score is 52 squirrels and one fox that was trying to eat one of our young barn cats! and of course our chickens.
1000000105.jpg

After around 45 kills I had zero squirrels on my 5 acres but there were still a few on my neighbors place and eventually some decided to have selective memory in regard to theirs buddies taking dirt naps and crossed the front lines for round two! The rifle is an absolute joy to shoot! Gave me zero issues and was surprisingly a real work horse. I just kept her clean, ran some patches through the barrel about every 150 shots. I worked the Helix scope as well. Zero is @35 yards with turret markers for 45, 55, and 65. Odd distances but I took my range finder and those were the most common distances from my shooting positions from various "cover". I shot targets as well all summer and the scope never lost zero. I am very pleased. Most kills were around 45-50 yards. I did take a couple squirrels at 60 yards! I used JSB 15.89 Hades and they punch hard! Now that it is finally cooling down I look forward to trying some of the shooting challenges. If anyone has any questions about my setup feal free to ask.
Stay safe out there.

Other  New Member & New To Air Guns: Help!

New - first post. 77 yr old in good health. I pulled a 43 yr old Crosman 766 American Classic out of the closet and started shooting (mostly plinking) about two weeks ago. I loved it so I went on line to learn what I could about Air Guns in 2024. I read and learned a lot but I still have lots of questions. Today I ordered a HW 30s from Krale. Cost w/shipping: $291.44. I read a lot of good reviews about this being a good rifle for beginners and that's me! I have a small backyard with a very safe backstop but it only allows me to shoot a maximum distance of 20 yards. If I continue to enjoy this as much as I do now I will invest it a second gun with more power and that will be adequate for shooting longer distances - I can drive a half hour of so to public game lands (thousands of acres) where they have a free outdoor range and I can use that. I have no interest in hunting - not opposed to it at all I just don't have any interest - I do rarely but occasionally see a copperhead snake in my backyard and those ore in trouble now!
1 My newly ordered HW30s will be in my hands next Monday. Is there a specific pellet that shoots best in this gun (plinking and some paper target shooting)?
1 - I Inow have these pellets: Crosman .177 Cal 7.4 Grain Pointed, GAMO Red Fire .177 Cal 7.8 Grain, and Daisy .177 Cal - should I NOT use any of these in the HW30s?
2- On this forum I read about "springers" that brand new have to be disassembled and blue loctite put on all the screws. I don't know a thing about taking a HW30s apart. How frequent is this necessary?
I am all ears for tips to help me!
Thanks, Tarheel (Eastern North Carolina)

Digger Down

Skunks have caused me many $ in damage digging under my sidewalk and under the barn foundation. I was on patrol and found signs of digging by the sidewalk and the chicken wire I had buried to discourage digging torn up. Last evening the culprit showed up. It was about 9 PM. I chose my M-Rod Cobra Super Light to end his days.

I hit him in the high shoulder first to stun him so he would not spray. He was knocked down and got up and turned to spray but did not. He then started wobbly running my direction. I fired again at his head now but missed at about 10 yards! I ran (!) upwind and he was slowing and turned towards the tree line when I placed the next shot on his head and pulled the trigger. I saw the pellet hit, his head snapped away and his body rotated 30 degrees and he fell DRT.

The Cobra, .25, JSB Hades at 900+ fps.

PCP Rifle  SOLD Edgun Lelya 2.0 .25 available - update with pics!

Hello AGN!

I’m considering downsizing my collection - and floating this out there to see what offers come around.

Perfect Lelya 2.0 in .25 on offer.

Upgrades include:

Red laminate stock
8 Eaglevision Mags to go with three original mags
BAT moderator adapter

It’s currently tuned to shoot at ~41 fpe / 844 fps.

Not really interested in trades at this time, but if you have something as unique and wonderful at this Lelya, I might be moved. Otherwise I’m only interested in seeing what kind of retail+ price interest there is for my beloved.

Why? Wife is demanding I review my expenditures on my black-hole habit - which we all know what that translates to.

Pictures by text request only for this one folks. PM me here for my number.

Price? The least I’ll consider is replacement value based on retail prices for this rifle which isn’t available anymore ~ >$2500.

Thanks,
Mark

FX  The Boss

It's been a while since I've taken it out of the safe, the wind has been howling for weeks it seams. Today it slowed down a bit (5-10) cross breeze so after sending a few rounds down range with my .22 impact I pulled out the boss set the trap out to 65 yards and ran a couple mags through the boss. The two groups on the shoot n see are 9 rounds each.

A short video “fly by” of the rifle.

Originally purchased as my bench rifle in 2021 to replace my Mll from 2019. I relegated it to my backup when I signed on with a different manufacturer in 2022. It has tens of thousands of shots through it over the years, has been rebuild on several occasions and although having been mostly neglected over the last two years, it still shoots every bit as well as it did when it was my primary bench gun. Although not “pristine” it remains in excellent cosmetic condition, even though it has, as I stated, been well used. Regardless, it remains in beautiful cosmetic condition and is an exquisitely accurate machine due to my meticulous nature, maintenance schedule and its hand picked STX liner (I tested many).

Below you'll see pictures of two 100 yard groups (1.1, 1.2) & (2.1, 2.2) I shot on Oct. 22nd 2024 specifically for this ad.
