FX  .25 slug for foxes fx impact m4 newbie here id like to know which slug and tune setup to whack foxes up to 60 yards in .25

Red foxes average 10-11 pounds. That isn't as big as raccoons or coyotes get but it's a lot bigger than a squirrel or rabbit. I would be concerned about getting enough penetration especially at 60 yards with an expanding slug (on a body shot). I test penetration in wet magazines to get an idea of the penetration in muscle tissue. I would want to see penetration in the 15-20 magazine range for an animal the size of a fox. My little P35-25 is just short of 50 fpe shooting JSB 34 grain pellets and will shoot through 19-20 magazines (at 25 yards). So I think it would be OK on foxes with that projectile although I wouldn't want to go all the way to 60 yards with it. But I get much less penetration with expanding projectiles, sometimes only about half. 9-10 magazines is my desired penetration for squirrels. 9-10 magazine level of penetration will shoot through a squirrel if you do not hit the shoulder and will reach vitals even if you do.

So whatever you use I would test penetration if you think you will be taking body shots. The first criteria for the projectiles and tune are that they be accurate in your gun. You also need enough penetration to reach the vitals, however, even if you hit the shoulder.
thanks

RTI  RTI Mora powerful .357 with huge power, high shot count, coming this year...

I was not whining about price just answering a question..but time indeed time has spoken you only have to see the treads of this gun and how it is going.. when the first pics came out I was going for one in 700mm .. even when I really hate having to cooking the gun from the other side... but as soon I saw they said that the barrel where going to be interchangeable with the current RTI .. I was out .. barrel would be to thing for being that long.. that is why they're are having acurracy problems and baffle strikes.. nothing revolutionary that worth that money to me .. certainly we are not taking anything to the grave.. but not every new shiny gun is made of gold..me personally waiting for the Epic 1 .. if they ever decide to take out.
What about the dynamic? I backed out last minute and got a 700 357 dynamic with front drop down bottle adapter for a 580cc

FX  M4 with hybrid slugs

I was hoping to find a barrel that liked both the FX Hybrid slugs and the JSB Hades Monsters. Unfortunately I couldn’t find a barrel that liked both.

The Hades Monsters decided they liked the 1:24 liner at 890 FPS

The FX Hybrids flew better at 930 FPS than 980 FPS for me. They liked one of my 1:24 liners better than the other, but clearly liked the 1:18 Heavy liner best. These are all 10 shot groups at 55 yards in rather windy conditions.

Scope recording, what's the option?

I started with Side-Shot, tried a Tactacam, tried a PhoneSkope, used a Eaglevision unit (with the same GoPro and lens from my orig Side-Shot) still use a Triggercam 2.1, just started using the newest Side-Shot.

I wouldn’t recommend Tactacam. If you want to use your phone then Side-shot & PhoneSkope make good options.

IMO the Triggercam is the easiest to use all-in-one complete package. It’s the only system that has an external manual focus dial. The downside is the maximum resolution of 1080p at 120 FPS (Frames Per Second), and the wi-fi connection to your phone is slow.

Eagle Vision offers a bit more light transmission to the camera (at the expense of less light to the user), and has a unique streamlined twist lock connection that fits “most” scopes, set the focus by removing the camera and twisting the lens in/out. Unsure of current camera/lens compatibility.

I just started using the newest Side-Shot and GoPro Black 11. It’s expensive, the unit is a little more bulky due to the secure connection method, set the focus by removing the camera and twisting the lens in/out, but offers superior clarity and recording capabilities. Like 4k 240 FPS with audio.

Scope recording, what's the option?

Depending on what you want. Do you just want to record video with your scope? Then just get the side shot phone mount. I believe it is $200 plus shipping and tax. So maybe $250 shipped. Then you use your phone. It's good enough. What the above user is recommending is just a digital scope. Which sucks. Digital scope Will never be as good, clear as a normal rifle scope. Do you want to record slowmo? See your pellets in flight? If so gopro sideshot mount is the way to go but it is expensive. Expect to pay $700-800. (Gopro mount $300, 12mm lens $100, gopro $300, tax and shipping all together close to $800). If you want an already put together. Sideshots sell it for $1250 lmao.

Garmin Chrono.....first thoughts

Before I bought the Garmin, I had looked at the Labradar LX and the Caldwell Velociradar, both of which use varying types of triggers which can include sound, making a moderated air rifle challenging. I emailed Caldwell and asked about airguns, specifically suppressed airguns. I real all the literature I could find on the LX too and it looks like it is not a great fit for airguns either.

Well, today I received a response from Caldwell, and they state that airguns , and I quote "They will work but they can be more challenging to record compared to higher calibers or bigger projectiles." end quote. So it looks like the Velociradar also is not at it's finest looking for pellets. So, that makes me even more grateful that I bought the Garmin, which quite simply "WORKS"

HW/Weihrauch  Just restored HW50

Nice job, it looks great!

The current "HW 50" (nee HW 99) is quite different internally and makes more power, but those old 50's are a personal favorite. Kinda what an HW 30 wants to be when it grows up - a little more power and better balanced for many adult shooters, and the only HW sporter to combine their smaller receiver tube with the nifty solid threaded-on rear section. I have one with a stock like yours; plain lines and details, but ergonomic perfection for me.
Really struggled finding a spring Everything I tried necessitated machining the rear guide which I didn't want to do . The the cocking lever would rattle over the spring when returning the barrel to closed! So I sleeved the piston and fitted a Norica 73 ! Feels average so hoping the Maccari kit will solve all my problems Fingers crossed

Benjamin  Best Bulldog yet?

I have tried the bulldog .457, .357 and now the .257 . Of the three this one has got to be the best as far as consistency and accuracy out of the box. Happy camper for sure.

N/A  Switching to PCP

So, I've decided to switch from break barrel to PCP. long story short, I bought a break barrel (double ordered on accident actually) and i've had nothing but problems with it...
break barrels seem to be too inconsistent and too finicky for me... I'm impatient. I don't want to spend an hour trying to zero in a scope because I have to use a specific rest (sand bags) and use an artillery grip and have to hold the gun the exact same way every time you shoot it so that it shoots consistent... and then the barrel might have play in it so when you break the barrel it might not come back to the *exact* same spot so your shot placement will be off etc etc....

nah... thats too much unnecessary crap for me... I've spent 2 weeks trying to sight in this stupid gamo swarm break barrel and I'm getting sick of it. im wanting to just throw it in the garbage if im being honest. (and not only that it kills my arms after cocking it about 20-30 times.) I'd prefer something a bit easier to shoot with a bit more consistency and accuracy. (plus I'd like to use a rail mounted bi-pod or possibly a clamped tri-pod since i plan on hunting with it).

Initially the only reason i went with break barrel is cause im left handed and i couldnt find many left handed or ambidextrous PCPs. That being said, i recently saw that the Benjamin Armada (Linked here) has a reversible bolt for us south paws and is regulated. I've always heard good things about benjamin n(typically the maurader, but the armada has a under barrel rail and I dont see one on the maurader). BUT I've read some pretty negative reviews about the cartridge and how cheaply made they are... I'd LIKE to keep the price under $800 USD if anyone could recommend a GOOD ambedextrous PCP. Rememeber I'm wanting undermounted bipod and left handed/ambedextrous. semi auto or bolt action is fine. Would also like it to be regulated.

TIA.

Boat tail slugs - not used by more than a handful?

I can only speak about the .25 cal boat tail slugs vs. the same weighted flat or dish base slugs. With the rifles I have it seems that I get more distance and accuracy from the boat tail vs any other. From 44 to 61 grain slugs vs the same weighted flat or dish based just don't reach out as far.
Look up my airgun range channel on YouTube and he puts flat and dish bases against the boat tail.
