Yes Sir, silicone is the number one choice for o rings. For non static o rings # 205 or # 206 Krytox.

Use whatever you like to clean the barrel. The only "seal" is a possible oring for a breech seal. They are basic Buna-N orings, and are resistant to most chemicals, as is every other oring in the gun. Only other type of oring is Urethane and they are just as resistant if not more so.
WD-40 is fine and won't hurt a thing.
The BS that's been circulating for years about "damaged seals" is just that. It's BS that's been recirculated over and over by people that heard it somewhere else and don't know any better.
Kroil is good and will loosen lead deposits, but is also hard to get out completely. It wicks into everywhere and just a little goes a looonnng way.
Clean your bore with Balistol, now that you have it clean and the last dry patch came out clean, right? Now run a wet patch of Strike Hold through the bore, let it soak for a few minutes then run a dry patch through it again and see what happens…

I did that with the Kroil last week on my Prophet Performance LR and it took several patches to come out clean after using Balistol. I have not heard of Strike Hold.
So no one is a fan of WD40?
I use Ballistol for after-shave.I use Ballistol. I flip the gun upside down so none gets into the transfer port. I must be the only one that doesn't mind the smell of Ballistol.
never..no powder residue or fouling so I don't clean the barrel unless there's a issue.. I guess you could say it clean the barrel with the next pelletIt is not my intent to hijack this thread, but my question is along these lines.
Assuming you rifle shows no sign of accuracy issues, how often do you deep clean the barrel?
Will
I'd have to disagree with part of what you said, my son in law had squeaky rubber sway ball joints in his truck, knowing from years experience I told him to use silicone spray and not WD 40..he if course used WD 40 and less than a year they turned to mush and literally fell apart..Use whatever you like to clean the barrel. yes it's good to wash out locks before actually lubricating them.. slightly rusty bolt and simple things.. really rusted bolts on machinery I mix automatic transmission fluid and acetone 50)50.. silicone grease on o rings, silicone oil for others.. for just metal parts I prefer a good oil or grease depending on the application..So no one is a fan of WD40?
I don't do anything to the pellets other than dropping a few when trying to load.. and then send them down range.Already did a search and got pages of conflicting info......WD 40 is great.....WD 40 is terrible.....Kroil is the cats meow......Kroil will remain forever.......ballistol is a gimmick.
I'm 60 and shouldn't need to ask but nobody's fault but mine.
Luckily the consensus say minimal maintenance is required of the barrel.
It's like dry barrels or more accurate yet many lube their pellets. Idk
light gun oil like hoppies to wipe down the finish and lubricant the joint on the break barrel.. couple drops of silicone oil in the chamber now and then and your good.. assuming that I remember the correct model you have.. spring piston gun? Thanks to all as I’m just new to air guns I have HW97k and just got a HW35e.
