Airgun Technologies Vixen .177

Anyone else have one of these? With my XM1 pretty much being a fail I wanted a good .177 to hold me over while I try to figure out why it's got such terrible accuracy.

@igolfat8 mentioned recently if I tried a Vixen for pesting as he has one in .22 and loves it as we do similar pesting situations. I had one in .22 shortly and really enjoyed it but had issues with a different gun i planned on selling so I sold it instead to recoup the cash. I did really like it though. But I have plenty of .22s so didn't think anything of it.

Having my .177 spot empty for now I started researching a small compact .177. Then it hit me about the Vixen. For the price and what it is it will fit my needs perfectly. I ordered one from Tony the other day. Curious if anyone else has one? Hard to find info on a standard .177 that's not UK spec or not a .22.

If not I will be posting my thoughts on the gun when I get mine. Will be topped with the 2-12x24 Discovery scope.

Hello I had 1, Sorry for my bad English but will try to write you something and some pictures I have the Vixen short .177 the regulator slightly raised and shoots 20 joules with jsb 10.34 shoots very clean. The handguard is from one of airsoft 7 inch.
Mounted the silencer a Huma 40mm mounted directly on the barrel m14 x 1.25

That is a great looking gun. (Without the magazine holder attached... Sorry just opinion)

Have you watched either of these videos? I hope they help if you have not. I've always been intrigued about them, but never enough to pull the trigger. Mostly just because I've read a good bit about them not being as quiet as they could be. Having to do modifications to make them quiet, other than that, they work just like any AGT product would, which is amazing!

I saw PJs video on it but not Cedrics. Thanks for that! Personally on the noise I didn't think the .22 I had shortly was loud at all but some people are more sensitive to the noise than others. You could attach a M14 moderator directly to the barrel if wanted like above did with the Huma but I don't need dead silent I'm happy with just quiet.

Keep in mind the agt moderator have a .35 cal exit hole, it works great on my Vulcan 3 .30 500mm, not so much on my U2 .22 700mm. I would definitely recommend a huma .30 with the m14 threads so you can get the best of of both accuracy and noise reduction. Also remember that you'll be shooting through a small .177 barrel, my compact U2 .22 wasn't bad at 105b, but was MUCH better at 84ish bar. With the .177 it's more noticeable when using a shorter barrel so just keep that in mind.

I can hear the hammer hitting the valve, with my cheek weld on the bottle but its not really that objectionable to me. My .22 is tuned way down to 590 FPS and is EXTREMELY quiet with the stock moderator. With my low tune I am getting an astounding 140 shots per fill on my compact. The trigger is awesome and nearly as good as a Taipan.

@Labwerff , nice write up. Where did you get the rear butt stock? Perhaps they have changed them on the newer guns but mine doesn't like that that one.

I ordered a short/standard version. Only looking for a 12-15fpe .177. Short barrels are kinda my thing. Besides my Vet Long my next biggest barreled gun is my Notos.

Lots of people chase the high powered airguns but I'm the other way. My .22 Vet Long is at 34fpe then Evol Mini .22 at 20fpe, Notos .22 at 12fpe and this one will be a lower/mid powered .177. Little guns are so much nicer when not pushed to the limits.

I'm thinking a 177 carbine may be my next purchase and have the vixen on the short list but if I did it today I'd probably get the short Katran. Did you consider it?
I don't like guns that I need to add a moderator and add to the length and cost. Out if all the airguns ive owned over the past decade i havent owned a LDC in years. I'm not a front bottle guy but don't mind the rear bottle look. That means I'd have only 165cc on tube vs 250cc on the Vixen. The Katran SC would fit better length wise but only 100cc. I wanted a compact yet high shot count .177 so the more air the better. Also just really like AGT guns. Have quite a bit of experience with them. Haven't owned an Airmaks even though I know lots of people like them. Also the looks just don't do it for me on the Airmaks guns in general. If you like them though I say go for it!

I'm hoping this one works out for you and if it can handle being bounced around on the farm . It's a nice looking, lightweight compact. I know you can shoot and don't sugarcoat things so looking forward to your results. I would definitely try the 10.03gr KOs or zans . I can see the puff of feathers already. And it give you the accuracy with pellets your looking for .

Oh yeah no sugar coating from me. I'm not doubting it'll do what I need it to. I'm going to be more careful with it in regards to the bottle being the buttstock but otherwise should be good. Now I do have the Mk3 KO slugs, some 8.4gr JSBs, 10.4gr FX and 7.9gr CPHPs to test for accuracy. This will be my barn gun going forward and probably for birds around the house also. And sparrows. Don't like using .22 on sparrows so don't usually shoot them.
