Talk about disappointment. Vector

Got a Vector 5-30x56 scol-22t scope a week or two ago. Couldn’t mount before because needed taller rings. So rings came today and mounted up. Went to sight in on my 13 yard range. Well s h I t wouldn’t focus. Noticed dial went only to 15 yards. Checked with Vector site and sure enough says 10 yards. Emailed Vector USA . A little pissed off

For such a large scope and such a short range,I don't get it. You have 13 yards, and you want it to focus 10 yards, but it only goes 15 yards. I hope you can return it and get what you need. It sure isn't a 5-30x 56 scope, is it?
Yes a simple 3x9 or 9x12 is more than enough for 13y .. I had a 3x12 UTG n I could use it all the way to 60y with great clean glass for the distance..

Mmm, a 13 yrd range ?
Why a scope in the first place ? That's plenty, "iron sight" distance.

Or like me with crappy eye sight, a good red/green dot sight, or maybe a prism sight, would be more than enough.

Save the scope purchase for 100 yrd shooting .

I think it's a pretty safe assumption that he doesn't only shoot on a 13 yard range. I've got about a 13 yard "range" in my basement myself and if I had just shelled out $300+ for a scope that was advertised as having a 10 yard parallax and it wouldn't adjust down to 13 I'd be pretty pissed myself. Sometimes airgun targets are up close and I want my scope to be able to focus up close.

I watched a lot of YouTube videos that were promoting the Arken EP5, and while it sounded like a good scope, I didn't buy it because I didn't want 25 yard parallax adjustment on an airgun.

13 yards would not work well for Field Target.

Mike, I can’t judge what pellets will shoot the tightest groups without pinpoint aiming.
on my raw hm 1000 I have a 15-60 and use the 60x. Knowing the aim point is true just
eliminates one variable .

I don't think this issue is terribly unique, unfortunately. I sometimes test at 5 yard intervals from 10 to 35 yards. I want to check on what I get from chairgun. My Arken EPL4 6-24 will not focus at 10 yards nor will my Vector Veyron 6-24. My Athlon scopes will. I think any of them will focus at 13 yards, however. Trusting my memory is iffy but I think they were OK by 12 yards. Not focusing at 13 is pretty far off.

Not all Athlon scopes do that well - I have an Argos 8-34 that is rated to focus down to 15 yards, but it can't do that well at full zoom (which technically means it can't do it at all, but is "usable" at 15 yards at ~half magnification or lower). I don't find it truly clear at 34X until about 18 or 19 yards out. Perfectly usable for benchrest at 20+ yards, but not as advertised . . .

My Ocular lens focus is set to make the reticle in focus and minimize point of aim changes from my head position - as it should be. I've wondered if my ocular setting could be a factor but I kind of don't care. If the scope will not parallax with the ocular set for my eyes the parallax is not right. Doesn't matter to me if it might work fine for somebody else with a different ocular setting.

I know lots of members here like the cheapest amazon scopes, but this is one of the many reasons I wont buy anything cheaper than an Athlon/Arken. These are known and consistent quality and have proven reliable over the long term. Hopefully you bought it from somewhere you can return it or replace it.

Hey Jim , in this case the scope wasn’t built for 10 yards.

Heck at that range you could just throw the pellet.

Just thought I'd pile on.

Hope you get it worked out.
