I bought a new Weirauch 35E from Krale a couple of years ago. In it's original factory box, tightly wrapped in additional layers (at least two, more likely three) of corrugated cardboard folded around the factory box. It was difficult to unwrap, but it was in perfect condition.
Outside of shooting ranges, skeet included, lead projectiles are not that big of an environmental catastrophe. Wash your hands and don't smoke while shooting, the cigarettes will kill you.
I see that BKL rings and mounts are manufactured from aluminum; their “self-alignment“ feature is accomplished by relief cuts and flexing. No thanks. I’ll stick to my old-school materials and continue using steel rings and lapping them.
No one laps their scope rings anymore? Granted, manufacturing tolerances have greatly improved over the years, but lapping the rings can only improve the accuracy of a given rifle scope.
I can wholeheartedly recommend attending a Project Appleseed event. www.appleseedinfo.org They put on a very thorough and extensive training program that addresses the fundamentals of rifle marksmanship.
