I have two Taipan Veteran compacts - one in .177 and the other in .22. You can get away without a moderator, but I have moderators on them for ultimate silence. All you hear is the action and the smack of the pellet.

That's a thought. The third does have a decent walnut stock thats been finished with Royal London oil. But it is much lighter in color than the other 2 stocks. Not bad, just different. Not sure if having the old style stock on a new action would help or hurt if I decided to part with it for...
