Brocock Concept XR

This is a follow up to a previous thread. I think I have decided on purchasing the Concept XR as I believe it is the best balance between my needs and wants. I noticed on Brocock's facebook page that the pictures they are posting of the concept show the same receiver used on the Atomic/Ranger being used on the Concept. Does anyone know if this is the rifle(first picture) shipping to the US or are we getting the one shown in the second picture? I have tried to get an answer from the source on both sides of the pond but have come up short. Would also like to hear from those that have a Concept XR to see if it is everything you were hoping it would be. Specifically interested in real world shot count in 22.

I have one in .25 cal.It is like the one pictured on the bottom. It is a strong ,hearty PCP.

I really did know too much about them,it was just a Great deal...I shoot lefty so it was awkward, then I put high scope mounts on it and that helped a lot, luckily I do not have a big nose.

To me it is a "working Gun"...it is for hunting first....I got a CARM magazine for it....works great.

Its kind-of-a-bully PCP rifle it that it looks and is rugged.....I am holding it now,fit is good.not heavy ,not light.

The stock goes in and out so you can adjust the length of pull where you want it....

My opinion is this,it costs as much as some other good PCP rifles, some may be more accurate, but not by much and for hunting a banging around it would be hard to beat,

.

I owned the non-XR bolt action version. I LOVED the Concept Lite. It is solid and accurate. I can only believe the XR lever makes the stiff bolt cocking effort much easier. Mine loved 14.3 .22 CPDs out to 50-70 yrds. Accuracy is only second to my Renegade and Pulsar. I am a Brocock and Daystate fan but be warned the Brocock trigger is a field trigger and is stiff and not really adjustable. Learn how to index and lever your trigger finger and don’t fart around with the trigger screws.

Hope this helps! I would be surprised if you didn't love it.

I have the concept lite xr in 22 cal awesome gun mine is tuned to get 3 mags worth of shoots 30 that is then it'll need air, very accurate and reliable, loves the cheap crosman hp pellets also. I have done some trigger wrk to get a light pull, ther was a thread on the trigger where the springs of the trigger were shortened this was what I did and it wrks well.

I had a response written up yesterday but it got snarfed up with the changes. 30 shots at power setting 3 of 4. Super accurate with CPDs in 14.3gr .22. Non-XR bolt action but they're the same minus the cocking lever. Choked barrel is super nice.

Thanks for the info about shot count. There is another thread about losing your post when submitting. I suggested copying your post before submitting incase there is a problem. All you need to do is paste it next time if something happens. I try to do this on any forum when I post. Never know what will happen and there is nothing worse than having to start over on a lengthy post.

Thanks for the info guys. Keep it coming. Would really like to get an answer on the receiver/frame question.

Gussamentaion on my part;all XRs use same receiver;each model has it's own different "bolt on"..Have youi called AoA,they may now better.

Even the Atom should be using the same receiver....I looked at the different models and some places will give you a shot count of each caliber and model, some are tested at the 12ft.lbs......Your are looking for larger shoot count,right?..The XR have adjustable power levels....

Tough choice,Concept XR more shoots ,longer barrel and tube plus telescoping butt...Ranger has a folding stock and is smaller and compact,Atom is just a Ranger like pistol...

Hard Air Mag has some pictures and write up.....The Ranger is sorta-of-cute,LOL....For sure take your time.....

and gobble up knowledge....

Yea, I have called AOA, but I don't think they really understood my question. The second pic was pulled from their website. Brocock has not responded to my inquiries. I expected as much from them as they clearly state to contact the retailers for sales inquiries.

Tough choice indeed. Ranger is the size I want but would like a little higher shot count as I plan to stick with a hand pump at least for the time being. I have started to question any specs I am seeing on websites or review videos. I don't want to say anyone is intentionally being misleading but I have a feeling most of the specs are best case scenarios especially when money/incentives involved.

The concept has everything I like about the ranger, just a little larger in size. I figure I will get almost twice the shots and more power over the ranger. I am honestly thinking about flipping a coin at this point.

Will definitely take my time and research before I pull the proverbial trigger. I purchased a MROD F&T a few months ago and now wish I had waited and did a little more research. While it is a great gun, it did not take long to realize I wanted more.

@texasred with the price range you are looking at you have basically dozens of options of one brand or another. Also, re-reading your post remined me that I read if you purchase a Brocock Compatto XR after "Z" date then you get the updated magazine pictured in the first photo with the Ranger. Make sure that you get the latest version when you order either, aka don't get the old stock. It is pansy ass for dealers & suppliers not to inform you are getting the previous generation when you order / purchase the gun, or anything for that matter. If it is the previous generation then I want a discount or I will wait for the newest.

@TexasRed, did you decide to pick up the Concept XR? i am really enjoying it! in terms of mass/weight/length it is smaller than the other pcp's i have but maintains the laser accuracy. it is not real fussy with ammo. ...got an od-green color variation version from AOA which is gorgeous! i've put a light on the accessory rails and use it for night/day critter control. it is lightweight & mobile. i see this post is from a few months ago but if you're still on the fence [or anyone else who comes across this post looking for info], i recommend it!

I just bought a used Concept XR and I love this thing. I believe there are 3 (4) variations of this puppy just in the last couple years. Here is what I found from my research.

-------------------------------------------------

1. The original is the Concept Lite with the bolt action. Let's call this rail the "integrated" picatinny rail like in the second pic from the OP in the thread.

-------------------------------------------------

2. The next is the Concept Lite XR with the same integrated picatinny rail and the new side-lever, floating hammer and other "XR" enhancements. It still uses the same old magazine. This is the one I have. The "old" magazine issue doesn't bother me because aftermarket Carm magazines are fantastic. It cures the issue some have with accuracy.

-------------------------------------------------

3. The next one is the same Concept XR but with the newer magazine. I'm not sure what else has changed. This is the 2nd picture in the original post.

I know AoA has made colorful versions of this. I wanted an orange or OD green version, but I don't believe they ever received a .22 version of the OD green - at least I couldn't buy when I looked. Here is a pic they sent me to tease me.

-------------------------------------------------

They told me it would be 3 months before another shipment, which is when I bought a slightly used #2 version. I was already waiting several months and they can't seem to get them in stock.

4. The newest version that AoA will receive (in 3 months!) is the model based on the Atomic/Ranger. We'll call this the "picatinny rail sticks out" version. That is like the first pic in this thread. The side rails have been removed to reduce weight, although it looks more awkward to hold IMO.

-------------------------------------------------

Honestly I love the old style frame better anyway. While I would love a green or orange or even purple version of the Concept XR, I'd rather have THIS frame instead. The magazine is a moot issue for me with the Carm option.

Edit: So last I heard, they ARE getting a shipment of those OD green Concept XR's in, but it will NOT be like the picture I posted above. It will be the Atomic/Ranger frame. In other words, I have no idea if anyone was able to buy an OD green Concept XR in .22, that I posted above. It might be a unicorn.
