Quietest Moderator for PROD under $150?

So I recently purchased a PROD, and love it. I use it mainly for pesting at night after 10:00 p.m. for rats. I have a nice AR15 stock and red dot sight. It is laser accurate.

The issue is I live in a nosy neighborhood. Apparently even though I fire from my bedroom window with the rifle completely indoors, it is still a little loud.

I realize there are many option, like TKO, Hill, and DonnyFL, and most of them are similarly priced.

But for the PROD what is the quietest moderator under $150 (not including an adapter)? Thanks.

Not that I’ve tried every moderator out there but the TKO is very backyard friendly. Sounds like the suppressor sound effects in movies if that loud.
The 5” is plenty. And for $55 you won’t find a better value.

Both my Prod and 1720T have Hill moderators. They work great. Little pricey but don’t require an adapter. Are they the quietest? No idea but I’ve also tried a TKO and a Tanto and just judging with my ear they seem to be about as effective as the Hill. A lot of guys swear by the DonnyFL Sumo but I don’t like the soup can on a stick look. I sold my Tanto because I liked how the Hill moderator looked on my Prod and 1720T better.
If your interested I still have the TKO and I don’t use it so if you want it I’ll sell it to you. Just PM me

Tim Hill’s is the quietest ive ever used on a marauder, rifle or pistol, direct fit to shroud. No poi change or thread mismatch like others. Bad pic, excuse the mess. 8” Hill moderator. My dog farts louder than it, its also cranked up for power as a hunting rig.

quietest? i dont know, theres alot of factors like power level ... ive only used donnys and frankly trust the quality fit as i think thats critical to accuracy ... ive used both the sumo and tatsu on the prod, the tatsu is alot shorter, the sumo is detectably quieter but its minimal, not enough to matter ... many of my shots are by my overgrown fenceline by my chicken coop and the neighbors house and porch are 30yds away on that side and i DONT want to get their attention because theyre aholes and like to respond to any noise by going full retard and aggravating any neigjbor they see lol .. both the sumo and the tatsu allow me to get shots in back there without getting their attention .. you cant set up a target and just keep firing lol, but a shot or two is real stealthy and possible for sure .. like i said both work fine, its mostly going to be your power level, other gun noise, and pellet strike your contending with ... heres the tatsu with shroud extension on it ..

I have not shot this suppressor, but I have a buck rail for my avenger that I am very happy with.

I own it. The owner is a nice person to deal with. I purchased an AR stock from him too. It does not seem to make much of a difference based on my experience hearing it fire.

I appreciate the info! My dive buddy has a Prod and has been thinking about ordering that one, I will let him know. I cannot agree more in regards to the owner.

From the silencer test results that I have collected over the years, it seems like many quality made silencers will do a pretty good job at silencing your gun.
So, after determining the basic length and diameter, it boils down to price and looks.

I'll attach a PDF below with the results of 13 comparative tests on the loudness of a set of silencers.

It also includes the specs of 56 silencers, from 14 manufacturers: The Silencer Specs Table.
And some recommendations on how to really get really quiet. 😉

🔇 One issue that is explained there more in detail is the tuning, especially for a short barreled gun:
Assuming the same muzzle energy/ velocity — short sips of air at a higher regulator pressure are usually quieter than long blows of air at a lower pressure.

There are some very nice looking silencers out there. The second document has their pictures.

Happy silencer shopping,
Matthias 😊

I’ve used both a TKO and a Rocker1 (sold on another forum) moderator . Both are about the same but the Rocker1 is less expensive and a great bargain. Both are the same size of the shroud. I tried a Huggett Belita and it’s a lot quieter. It’s more expensive but within your budget. It’s slightly bigger than the shroud. I don’t like the “soup can” look of the bigger moderators. YMMV

Can you build or does it have to be store bought?

For anything under .22 i made a 20cm ø4cm supressor some 20 years ago.
I bought some computer damping 1/2" "wool"/fleese but in two layers and ripped apart.
Space between 2 deviders in the silencer on the formula: 1, to the thierd root of 2, to the thierd root of 4. 1 : 1.26 : 1.32.
So combined length of space minus two deviders devided by 3.58 gives you the total space devided into: 1 . 1.26 and 1.32.
With the bigggest space nearest to the muzzle. The Silencing "wool" i attached to some hot laminated paper using double sided tape.
The woll absorbs huge amounts of noice but under 45-50ft/lbs, over that it starts to tear the woll and will destroy bullet path.
If theres interest i'll tear into one og my silencers to show the principle.

Those TKO's look similar to the Buck Rail (which I just ordered for $20) Leaves room to refill without having to take off the moderator.
