Marketing safety: branded air-gun safety gear?

I've been trying to think of a way to help increase air-gun safety industry without being too overt about it. You know, so we don't end up being targeted for government regulation.

One of the ideas that I think would be feasible is for air-gun companies to promote things like trigger locks.

"Daisy Trigger Lock: An essential for any young shootist!" I think that if parents start seeing those on the shelves at Wal-Mart right next to the rifles, that they might take gun safety more seriously. Or maybe even include the lock in the box? Obviously, they'd be real locks and not toys. It gives a more realistic feel for safety and gives the parents an extra level of safety.

Maybe even include branded gun lockers? I doubt full gun safes would be feasible, but a simple steel locker might suffice.

This is also aimed more at the "introductory" air-guns for younger shooters

Any thoughts?

Include the trigger lock in the box. Consumers won’t purchase it on a stand alone basis. But it feels a little late to the party. In the next few months all of the corporate owned stores will be pulling their gun related merchandise from store shelves due to the media push. The only place you will be able to get a daisy is online or from an independent store.

ON the market right now is a metal cabinet with top and bottom lock for rifle and ammo cheap price in 2,3,4 rifle sizes

Yes,but they're not being marketed to parents of young air gunners. Thats my point.

If there was a Daisy Red Ryder essential lock cabinet at Wal-Mart, it would help sell safety. Heck, just slap some red painted details and the RedRider logo on a 2 or 3 gun cabinet and I'd bet they'd soon sell more guns trying to fill the cabinet just because of the logo.

The Paintball industry, in its prime, sold a lot of safety gear and outfits that were cool looking for kids and expensive for parents. Everything... padded underwear, special shoes, guards, pants with pads and sliding patches, etc.

Come to think of it there aren't really many airguns aimed at kids. Cheap replicas of famous firearms, weird 1400 fps guns with exotic stocks, BB-guns, stuff most of us ignore for good reason.

More simple and easier to keep the given gun, SAFE...and...IN THE FAMILY...is using a real gun safe.

I'm looking at a second safe myself.

Keeps them in a "safe" condition, no one can shoot them . No one can steal them (without a LOT of work). You can also prevent, or at least greatly reduce the amount of moisture by adding a few desiccant bags to help keep the rust down. Many/most of todays safes are fire and water protected too.

The safe can be added to most any room in the house, cepten for maybe the bathroom ! The garage is another good location.

No pad locks here, just a secure location.

I think our society has enough safety, I like Mike Rowe’s philosophy of safety 3rd. Seems to me most safety stuff is just putting a bandaid on an axe wound. Finding a way to get parents to raise their children right is the issue. To me, and I know I’m not your target market, but extra safety stuff will turn me off on a product, we’re over saturated with safety. Just my 2 cents.
