Looking for some information, is there a difference in the Taipan made in Ukraine vs Czech Republic.
Looking at a pre owned Taipan Veteran. 22 made in the Ukraine.

There was an old thread that went back and forth on this very subject. Just have to dig it up. Very few guys had both versions in hand at the same time for comparison. I think the consensis was they are both excellent.

I just got a brand new taipan veteran shorty in .22
Do not worry about where it is made , those guns coming out of the eastern European block are top notch performers , end of story, Taipan, Kalibrgun (which once was taipan), and AGT.
I had my taipan shorty in .22 out Friday breaking clay pigeons on that birm, that birm is 130 yards away! Now I'm not saying it would group well, because I kno it wouldn't but for a compact that's damn good. I wish I had done some 100 yard groups because the 50 yard groups are intense. Oh and it was all off a tripod.

Personally own a Ukraine Mutant as well a CZ Veteran.

What kind of tripod/ball setup do you have there? I just ordered a Taipan Veteran Standard from UAG with a picatinny rail on the bottom like that, and I just started my tripod research. That looks like exactly what I'm looking for!

The anodization on the Vets from the past couple of years isn't as hard and durable as the previous iterations.
The Ukranian models and some of the early CZ versions seems to have better barrel machine work than the newer models. They're shipping with CZs now in .22, but they're not chambered (throated) at all whoch can cause issues with slugs and pellets longer than 18gr JSBs.
There was a period of time where the .22's shipped with LWs, but I've seen them with something other than CZ or LW and they were not good. Whether they shipped with them from the factory or rhey were swapped out by a dealer(s) remains to be seen, but there were instances where at least two dealers took the CZs out and swapped in chinese made barrels (do your own homework on that and you can read up on that history).
The Veterans built up until a couple of years ago appeared to have the best anodization and machine work (excluding barrels) of all the CZ made rifles. The Ukranian ones are also extremely good, and they all seem to have good barrels.
I like the Ukranian Mutants best. They have a VERY cool hand made feel to them, as if someone actually cared about building the rifles. You can really see some evidence of them being hand crafted, yet the tolerances are just about perfect. 12 shot mags vs. 10 in the Vets. I just SMH when I think about the time that I almost sold my .22 Shorty, but I'm glad that I discovered how well and efficient they are with 16gr JSBs! (180+ shots at 12FPE, plus I can crank it over 40FPE now with my valve and hammer with 20.2gr NSAs when I'm inclined to do so
)

I remember reading up about the different barrels back then. I believe they were Listone barrels.

I noticed an immediate difference between my new vet and the used Long I got rid of in "exchange" for it. The Long I had must have been older, completely different finish.

I have the older Mutant standard made in Ukraine. Quality appears to be the same but after trying to buy upgrade parts a few years ago, found out that there are dimensional differences in the Mutant and newer Veteran. The mags won't interchange, air tube is larger diameter on the Veteran, hammer adjuster is larger diameter on the Veteran. I also think the barrels mount differently. Mutant has set screw and Veteran threads in.
