Ok, I am sure this question has been asked in a lot of different forms in the past, but here goes again. I think I know what I want, but want to make sure I am not missing something. It has been about a year since I bought my HW97 in .20 and do love it. Specifically I bought it for Squirrel Hunting. After carrying (lugging) it around for a season, I am thinking I should look for something a little bit lighter in weight. It is giving me about 14-15 ft-lbs, and has been adequate, I feel like a little more energy would give me more confidence of a one shot kill.
So here are some criteria I have in mind: Left handed, 22 cal, wood stock preferred, light weight. Accurate to 60 yards, side lever, 40+ shots per fill. short Length is important since I will be hunting in heavy undercover, and steep hills (Southern Indiana) and I intend to use a moderator.
Then for a scope I usually don't want it to be too powerful for hunting thinking something in the 6x to 8x range. Of course needs to have side parallax adjustable.
My Budget including scope is $2000. I have been looking at Daystate Huntsman Revere, HW110, Air Arms 510. What other decent rifles are out there that fit the criteria?
Hunting season is coming up. Thanks for the input.
