JSB Monster Redesigned .177 cal comparison

Hello everyone,

Received four tins of the JSB Monster Redesigned 13.43gr .177 cal pellets in yesterday and got to shoot a lot of targets this morning. I used my FX Crown MK II and shot all the targets at 30-yards. I first shot one magazine ( 22 shots ) at a test target using the original JSB Monster 13.43 because this is the pellets that I have found to shoot the best with this rifle. I then shot a second magazine at a test target using the new JSB Monster Redesigned 13.43gr and did a small amount of adjustment to the scope. Next I shot a #177 target ( first photo ) and scored a 189 and made just two single click adjustments to the scope, one for elevation and one for windage. Next I shot two 30 Yard Challenge targets and scored 198 and a 200 ( second photo ) and will post this 200 over on the 30-Yard Challenge thread. Several things came to my attention after reviewing all of the targets, 1) the Redesigned shot as good and I believe just a bit better than the Original, ( I will need to shoot more to have a fair evaluation ), and 2) and most important, please note not one single flier on either card. The miss shots, I have to contribute to my error, or at least a portion. I am very pleased with these new pellets will do more comparison testing against the Original style.

Have a great day,
ThomasT

Nice shooting Thomas, a crown will be on my short list for a new .177 pcp, thanks for sharing! My original and redesign's came in last week. Look forward to trying them in my Uragan.
Hello Str8tshooter,

The more I shoot this rifle the more I love it. Dave Larson @davelarson gave me a lot of first hand information about this rifle and that is why I made the purchase, sure glad that I did  .

Have a great day,

Nice shooting Thomas. I have a couple tins of the redesigned Monster .22 on the way. Have heard similar about them.
Hello cjtamu,

I have been shooting some of the .22 cal JSB Jumbo Monster Redesigned 25.39 in my RAW HM1000X and they shoot a lot better than the Original. I have been stacking 4 out of 5 pellets on top of each other and that is with a scope problem???? Hope to have the scope issue resolved today.

Have a great day,

I’ve had mixed results with the .177 redesigned 13.4’s, they like to go a little faster than the original which are much more accurate when you keep them under about 810-15fps for 20ftlb restrictions.
The redesign’s will work from 830fps up to about 880 -900fps! In my impact, still not as accurate as the H&N 10.65 match.
It’s funny FX branded 13.4’s used to be only the redesigned style, now it’s only the original style?

Sounds familiar. I was stacking the 15.89 a couple days ago with my Maximathor. They just weren’t going where I aimed! There’s your lesson on precision vs accuracy kiddos ha ha. My issue was terminal, solved it by ordering a new scope. Hope your solution turns out to be cheaper.
Hello again cjtamu,

Yep, hopefully the Rings are the problem and I have a new set due in today.

Barrels twist rate can have a HUGE effect on these longer & Heavier .177 pellets.
Oddly with the Slow Twist LW poly barrels the Originals at @ 810 fps ( Sub 20 FPE ) for FT work shoot a tad better than redesigns for a lot of us using said barrels.

FYI FWIW.
Hello Motorhead,

No question about it, some barrels like a particular pellet where others do not.

Have a great day,

I am down to 1 tin of the MRD pellets, even if i am a bit slug focussed i want to get some more of those, they run pretty good in my Maverick with the 700 mm barrel, but in my Vulcan 3 with the CZ barrel, lets just say they fly between not good and bad,,,, like really bad, and i have tried speeds from 700 FPS and up to 1000.
Problem is i have a wedding next weekend, and it is my favorite niece, so i want to get her something really nice.
