$1600 budget for a 25 caliber PCP

As the title says, looking to spend around $1500-1600 on a 25 caliber PCP rifle, accuracy is a priority. Right now I'm leaning towards an FX Wildcat MK3 BT with a DonnyFL moderator. Would like the gun to be capable of at least 50ftlbs. I'll be upgrading from my Umarex Origin. The inconsistent shot curve is driving me crazy so it's time to upgrade. The new rifle needs to be quiet, so if a moderator is needed that must be factored into the budget. Just looking for some suggestions, thanks everyone!

Taipan Veteran! But, what is the intended use? Form should follow function.

Will mostly be doing lots of target shooting and plinking, but I also have a serious groundhog problem which is why I want the extra energy from the 25 caliber. At my house the farthest I can shoot is 50yds, but I have access to 100yds plus whenever I'd like.

My Origin in 25 caliber was serving it's purpose just fine until I got my Benjamin Cayden. The Cayden shoots circles around the Origin, so I'm looking for a 25 caliber on par with the Cayden. Since I need to take out the occasional large groundhog, I'd like the rifle to be capable of at least 50ftlbs to give me the best chance. If I can find a 25 caliber that meets my criteria for less than so be it, I don't need to spend that much if I don't have to.

I've also looked at the Kral BigHorn from thebestairgun.com. The gun comes tuned for a smoother shot count, and Kral had it's hand in making the Cayden so I assume I'd like it. Much cheaper than the FX but I assume the FX is worth the extra cost. Buy once, cry once.

Can't really go wrong with Brocock Sniper XR. I've got a .25 as well as the .22 magnum version with Safari stock. Badass guns, extremely durable, accurate and easy to adjust. Here is my Safari magnum that loves the Howler slugs and have found just as capable as my .25

Whenever someone asks about a gun in this caliber and price range it is just a matter of time before the chorus of “taipan vet!” replies come in. If I wanted a gun to NOT mess around with and just shoot and enjoy, it would be this gun for sure.

I’ve been reading these forums daily for a few years and one thing that becomes obvious over time is that the taipans get lots of love and zero complaints. It’s actually remarkable - I can’t think of another airgun that stands out like that.

I have to get one of these some day, when I finally get serious I guess and get tired of trying to improve budget air rifles.

Thank you all for the suggestions, but I scored an FX Maverick from a forum member that reached out after seeing my post. It's in 22 caliber but should fit the bill. Main reason I was going for a 25 caliber was due to the fact there are more guns in that price range that achieve the 50ftlbs I was hoping for.

The Maverick has a Huma moderator, Sekhmet digital gauges, and FX carbon fiber barrel sleeve already installed. Just need to throw a scope on it and I'll be shooting!

Congratulations, please let us know how the gun treats you after some time with it.

I’ll parrot the above. I’m between a K1 and a Standard/Compact Vet as my next adventure. Eager to hear what you go with.

That said, way below your budget, but my AEA Element and Hatsan Flashpup are my most shot.

See my comment above. Picked up an FX Maverick in 22 caliber from a forum member. Not 25 caliber like I was originally looking for, but should still be more than capable of hitting my goal of 50ftlbs. Plus pellets will be cheaper :)

Get the FX Crown with the quiet Silent Thunder Ordnance Accipiter moderator, Saber Crown chassis, 700cc bottle, shooting the 25 cal JSB 33.95 monsters and top it off with a Trijicon 5-50 and never look back(y)
