I bought a 24 gun safe, If you cut the guns up 24 might fit, So buy a lot bigger than you need.

In my "24 gun" safe, I have 7 rifles squeezed very close together. I think they mean 24 pistols..........

Whenever I see safe companies advertising a certain number of rifles it can hold, I divide that number in half. So a 24 gun safe will actually fit 12 rifles with mounted optics or accessories. Of course, unless every rifle you own is similar to a Ruger 10/22 with iron sites.

Generally speaking, the advertised safe capacity is the same as the weather mans snow prediction.
For snow, take the high side number and subtract the low side number from it. Then divide that number by 2.

Couple thoughts for airguns and safes.....
- unorthodox shaped guns like the USFT (and probably the Thomas) or anything with a knee riser (field target) don't play well with gun safe designs
- bullpups don't play well with gun safe designs
- scope wheels (field target) don't play well with gun safe designs
- bullpups with scope wheels and knee risers REALLY don't play well with gun safe designs

Yeah, those 6 bullpups are taking up the space that the safe manufacturer intended to be used by 24 or more long rifles.
I didn't say bullpups CAN'T go in a safe, just that they don't play well with the typical gun safe design.

The very reason I am making a safe room in my basement. I think the safe companies base their gun count on single shot shotguns not real guns with scopes, grips and mags.

I wish half was right, then I might be able to fit six rifles in my 12 rifle Winchester safe, but no, I can JUST BARELY squeeze 5.

I bought a huge safe.. I have to lean each rifle against each other. Buy the biggest safe you have room for and can move ( once).
