Ground squirrel's rain of terror has come to an end.

So this guy has been making a mess under my out building and digging holes in my grass for 2 weeks now. Today, when I went to get one of my Hummingbird feeders to refill it, I saw the ground squirrel halling butt under my building and I thought, finally, nows my chance!
So I finished up with the Hummingbird feeder but before I did, I set my Impact M3 out back on my table and left the door cracked so I wouldn't make any noise after going back inside, because I know he's paying attention. I left some grapes out for him too.. Snuck through the cracked door, pulled my chair up to the rifle, and waited very quietly. 5 minutes later he comes creeping out making his way towards the grapes. I let him eat one grape as I exhaled, then took the shot.
You can see both the entry wound and the exit wound in the pics. Mental note, the 30 cal Impact pushing a JSB Hades at 965fps is way too much for ground squirrels at 30 yards. Next time use the 22 Dreamline Tactical.

Yeah, Hulk smash! LOL. Great shot. Nice detailed pics.

Nice!!! I had two ground squirrel head shots at 50 yards Sunday in Descanso, CA with my .30 Daystate Delta Wolf shooting JSB 50.1 at 880 fps, or 86 fpe. The results are devastating! Didn't take any photos, but the sound alone was incredible... First one was on top of a stack of boulders, and was fully out in the open. The second one peeked his head up from behind a boulder to see if I was still there, so all I could see was his nose and his eyes. Hehehe, he thought he was safe... :ROFLMAO:

Yeah man, the sound of that Hades making impact was brutal! Louder than the sound of shot itself ....

Well last Sunday I was suppose to go and work with the FX again after tuning it, but..seems that the Dr.s had other plans for me on the previous Thurs, decided I needed a Stent in the old ticker, THEN needed a trip on Sunday to the ER to make sure nothing untoward was happening. Obviously not, I'm typing this. So...made off with the gal whose property I shoot on, to go on Sunday 8/28 afternoon.

I give up, no seriously I give up. Went out to get more ground squirrels, all I could do was annoy them. Had one at about 25 yards, that's my zero, easy shot, and of course it was a mild gusty wind but still...went right over it, after about 4 shots I MAY have hit it, a dull thud. Couldn't find the body anywhere, no blood. Annoyed about 6 others at about 50 yards and 75 yards, short, high, left, right, didn't matter, got it zeroed at about 60 yards, elevation up 12, wind was coming at me, it held pretty good. Still pellets to the left, right and who knows where...THEN I discovered my HSA was set to 7 and I was tuned for 4, I'd been testing it Saturday and forgot to reset it. Oh, I was using Hades pellets, not that it mattered that much. So tomorrow going to the range with a friend and will zero for 50. But I'm taking my A17 for the squirrels next time, may take the Maverick.

Edit, Ok, un-giving up. Went to the range, kicked the HSA down to #4 890ish FPS, 50 yards, rezero'd the scope, with a slight breeze from the right.
