I hear you!! It’s an issue that often leaves me fighting the same conundrum… often as in yesterday and today. I’d have included a gratuitous LOL but it’s definitely not funny.

Yesterday I decided to figure out how to “fix” this common problem by just removing the mag, decocking the gun, reinserting the mag, and, and… putting a flag on it so I don’t forget and double-load?

That didn’t go well. Didn’t get to the flag bit, not with pellets falling on the floor, damaged and ruined, ones I’d selected and prepped and trusted. Sooo I emptied the mag and, after trying a couple more times, gave up. Frustrated. Again.

So back to square one. I just push the pellet backwards, throw it out and start over. An irritating itch I’ve yet to reach.

$100.00 mag and contemplate drilling a hole in it…

Nah. I’ll keep my little pellet remover dowel handy and add this dilemma to the pile. What’s one more at this point.

Depending on caliber, I bought thru amazon 48” of delrin rod for that reason that I keep close to the gun. If I rack one and decide not to shoot(I don’t want to waste the shot, nor do I want to waste the air), I just carefully slide the rod in thru the moderator and push the pellet out of the breech. Reload the mag with said pellet, and de cock the gun. Done. The delrin rod can also easily be packed into a gun case for those Ammo jam emergencies we get once in awhile.

For 30 cal I bought a .25” rod

And 25 cal on down to 22 I use .187”


I know a cleaning rod like my Dewey rod could be used but I didn’t want any metal tips being pushed thru my barrel without a mop of some kind plus the delrin is very flexible and just easier to use in this application in a confined/limited spaced area cause I could flex it in a radius as I’m pushing it thru the muzzle.

Not sure if this helps as I know you were thinking more along the lines of manipulating your mag. I sure wish one day, maybe on future MK versions of their guns, that FX in particular would incorporate an anti double load feature on their guns. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again- if Hatsan can easily and successfully incorporate that into their guns(my Hercules Bully has it)FX who is a mover and shaker in this industry should be able to do so.

In fact, I know someone at FX solely in charge of R&D. I’m going to message him now to start putting some thought into that, ha ha

Buy a Daystate Renegade used at the cailiber you want.

Rifle can live cocked forever without problem. The safety won't let you make a shot by accident.

hmmm... if i hafta leave either of my air rifles 'ready to go' i simply make sure the safety is on and add this...

and seeing it's just me and my dog around here... and too, mine doesn't stay 'ready to go' for very long

I use a length of heavy weed wacker string to push pellets out of the breech. I keep it coiled up in my range bag so it's ready for next time.

I use a metal rod with an orange flag at the end inserted into the muzzle..
With FX mags a knurled bolt could be easily threaded onto the side to keep mag from advancing..

Your idea of a small pin in a hole bored in the mag works fine. At least on my AEA. It allows the mag to be inserted while presenting the bolt with an empty slot.

Great idea, Mark. It sparked up an idea where maybe a threaded port on the side of the mag could be placed to accept a spring loaded push in set, push in release deal sort of like what’s on a click pen

Ummm, I just shoot the pellet into the ground if I don't get a shot on my quarry.

I have a Taipan veteran so it's a non-issue I can cock and decock it 100 times and never double feeds

Get a Leshiy 2!!! It's a good reason to get another gun. That is one feature that I don't like with most airguns, you can't unload them easily. But with the Leishy 2 you don't have that problem, the pellet stays in the mag until you shoot it. As for other guns I usually just fire the pellet into a safe backstop.

Buy you an Argus 60. Their mags have the feature you describe.

When I have a rat to snipe at night I single load the Prod then decock it and wait for rat to show up then cock it again...if I don't get a shot off...de-cock it again...rinse and repeat. Can have a magazine loaded and ready after first shot. If I don't get a shot off that night, I shoot the pellet into the ground in the morning.

May not be optimal but you can get 1/8" wood dowels or even 1/8" aluminum rod at Home Depot or any hobby/crafting store. The wood is kind of fragile and the aluminum, while softer than barrel steel is well, still metal..

That's a neat idea for guns that do not have a magazine advance disconnect lever. I use this lever all the time on my Edgun r5m when I end up not taking the shot. I just have to remember to first cock the gun, then flip the disconnect lever back up the next time I'm shooting or I will get blanks after the first shot!

For my other guns, my workaround has been to pull the bolt back, remove the mag and hold the bolt while I pull the trigger. I just have to remember that there's a pellet in the chamber. Very easy to go wrong and double load in this situation.
