We need a new Caliber for the new powerful rifles.

Now new generation of rifles can achieve high power and in some cases accuracy at long range beyond 200 yards.

I am of the idea that we need a Caliber designed to shoot so far.

FX rifles and the new Brocock Ghost as well as Daystate Alfa and Delta Wolf could take out the best of them witn a Caliber among. 25 and. 30 Cal: A new . 275 Cal designed to shoot slugs accurately at very long distance.

Just a matter of NSA to decide to make the new Caliber slugs and the barrel makers to take the decisión and make an specific. 275 Cal barrel for shooting slugs.

Many rifles could just swap the new Caliber barrel. 275 Cal to shot slugs as they do now for other comercial calibres.

Now we have the rifles, but need the adequate slug Caliber to mate them.

Forgive my ignorance in PB calibers, but why would .264 or .270 be better than .25 or .30 if the barrel and the slug were designed properly.

And if the Creedmore 6.5mm is one of the best PB long range distance slugs, why not use that size?
6.5 is a .264 that's actually what made me curious to begin with. The .270 I dont really care about I just through it out there because it seems like a good midpoint between 25 and 30

What Vetmx said is true and something to realize,it takes power for longer ranges, plus projectiles that can function in an air gun environment.
Many times the ammo makers got together with the gun manufacturers and showed them the advantage of the "wildcat"....they are thinking of.
The new caliber happened because it filled a need for long-range shooting that was sellable; in fact they have become very popular.
It can happen for air gunners if someone or companies can work it out the same way the wildcat in powders burners came about.
In reality, it is a bragging right for air gunners to be able to "reach out there" and be able to shoot past hundreds of yards when it is an easy task for a powder burner to do it.....nothing wrong with that. The question is, the need enough to do it for "people to pursue it,we say yes.

We haven’t even approached the most lame muzzleloader (black powder) or flintlock that easily shoots very heavy slugs 1,800-2,200fps. I’m all about innovation but we don’t have to stay in our lane, we are forced to by the laws of physics. It’s ok to dream or fantasize, I wouldn’t hold your breath waiting for a walk around airgun that’s going to be capable drilling holes at 200+ and can compete even with a lowly .22 magnum rim fire.

The problem right now is power..how to move a lot of air in to a small hole like .224 - or .257 by example.. only the airforce line has the power to shoot in .224 .. 62gr at 1,000fps with 33 " barrel at 3100 psi and 100gr in 257 same 1,000fps same barrel length..at 3,200 psi .. no other gun with a traditional valve has the push to do that.. were are talking in pressure Below 3,400 psi .. there are guns that not even at 4000psi could do such numbers... the problem I see on a texan is that to be able to shoot 70 to 85gr I don't need a 55" gun I could do that with a way shorter gun . Benjamin bulldog 257 is a awesome machine... a texan should be a gun to shoot 100gr to 105gr .... what I'm trying to say a new caliber is not needed when we have not even explored what is available now..like being able to shoot heavy. 224 -- 55gr to 65gr and heavy. 257 -- 95gr to 105 gr .. now for those who might want to try the .. there are 2 new mandrels at TJ .. .218-224 ..1-8.5 and 250-257..1-8 those 2 are aviable now -- by the end of September.. 218-224 ..1-9.5 and 250-257 ..1-9 .. I have the bullet molds I wanted to test ..so I paid for all the tooling..

Yes a 6.5 or .270 is a great long range projectile. But take a look at how long that bullet is, how much it weighs and how fast it’s going. In the airgun world we have our own set of laws. And those laws are far away from the real rifle world.
I agree completely. The scaled down weights we would use may not work quite as well. I cannot imagine they would perform poorly though.

25 cal is right between 6 mm and 6.5 just would need a longer heavier bullet . Oh wait the 257 all ready has that 70 gr to 90 gr I had a 257 with a 30 inch barrel 80 some gr were running at 1000 fps it was a talon with a noble valve a heavier hammer and spring people have been shooting coyotes out to a couple hundred yards with them . The problem is the bullets are to long for any magazine and it uses a lot of air I would get 3 shots at 1000 fps with a 3600 psi fill

I didnt realize .257 slugs were that heavy and fast already. Thats impressive.
