Odd FX Chrono problem

How are you setting up the chrono? I attach mine, near the muzzle, on the barrel. I use the chrono primarily on an FX Dreamline Tac with a Donny Fl moderator. It's a tad finicky about placement on the barrel. An inch one way or the other can make a difference. I usually place mine a little over an inch back from the muzzle. Mine will sometimes quits in the middle of a string. When that happens, I close the app and restart it. That seems to solve most of the problems.

What guns are you have problems with?

As a fan of multi-step setup processes and trial-and-error and other complex, time-consuming rituals, I really enjoy the challenge of tricking a chronograph into giving me consistent and reliable readings.
LOL! How can you trust a chronograph that you have to "trick" into giving consistently accurate results? Or consistent results period? (chuckle)

Exactly.

Elsewhere from Mike:
The FX chrono is the cause of the single biggest customer service issue I have to deal with by far. Anytime I get somebody telling me one of my guns won’t hold a decent velocity spread I find out they are using the fx chrono.
We are playing the role of paying beta testers.

I am so glad that I found these:

Usually less than $40, accurate, consistent, can be used in total darkness. The only negative is that the muzzle mounted version only gives mps (meters per second) readings. But I still recommend the muzzle mounted version.

They are accurate, consistent, can be used in total darkness. Had mine for over 3 years. Never has failed me.

Never has NOT given an accurate reading. Let alone not given a reading at all.

No, you won't be able to get POI readings to caculate BC, but for MOST airgun shooters, this is all that is needed!

Do I recommend it? LOL!

Well... HELL YES!

I set up my FX Chrono today and noticed it would only read 3 of the 6 guns I tried getting readings on.
Checked my set up several times, light was fine, position was good etc but it just didn’t see or report 3 of the guns shot strings.
Thoughts?
If I switched guns / shot one of the other 3 it recorded without fail.
Try deleting program from phone/tablet and reinstall. Had the same problem and now solved.

Shooting yesterday my FX chrono coughed out strange numbers.
So. I was shooting 13 grain slugs around 1050 FPS, but a few times it would say 2 speeds for 1 shot, and other times a speed would be called out but like 6XX FPS about half of the actual speed.
And i was shooting 70 - 80 M so if it was that much slower it would not have been on the paper, or as they where bang on the 2" shoot and see targets i was shooting at.
Also i was using single shot tray, so plenty of time between shots.

I am interested in buying a new small easy to use chrono,,,,,, do not link to things i need to bolt to my rifle.
