Need assistance with stuck foster fitting

Greetings.
My problem started today when I tried to attach the hose from my new GX compressor to my Crown. I guess the tolerances of the GX fitting are wrong (?) and I could not get a true latching to the male end; the fitting stayed on loosely and popped off as soon as I tried to pump some air into the gun. So, I had an Air Venturi Female Foster Fitting and screwed it into the hose ending replacing the factory one. The fitting clamped down on the Crown male end well, but I cannot get it off. There is no pressure in the line or anywhere, as far as I can check, and this fitting simply will not come loose. I never pumped air with this fitting on, for your knowledge. The aperture of the FX Crown MK II is not finger friendly in the first place. (FX really needs to do better here, in my opinion.) So now I have my gun sitting attached to the compressor. I have worn my thumb and forefinger out. I was thinking about buying a bent head needle-nose pliers. Any suggestions? Thanks. S7

Get yourself an EXTENDED female foster, especially if you have FX guns. Sooo much easier to grip. I have 3 FX guns & fat fingers so one of these (link) is a must. If you do some searches you can probably find one for about $10. Try the methods mentioned to get it disconnected.

A nipple (AKA plug) is what is attached to your gun. The coupler is attached to your compressor... "Foster" is a brand and to my knowledge does not conform to any ISO standards... I know nothing about GX compressors and the coupler may be the issue as I would think FX uses quality nipples. I only own one FX rifle ( M3) that came with a nipple on the rifle. The dealer / supplier ( Talon Tunes ) provided a coupler that attaches to my hose off SCUBA tank. (1/8" FBSP)
I would unscrew the hose from compressor and then see if you can back out the nipple from your rifle.. FX can sell you a replacement nipple and purchase a coupler from a supplier that you know will match the threads on your GX compressor...

Hi, Folks.
Thanks for the various advice; I will log it all for future reference. Scotty1, I am not confident in taking the stock off yet. Each new thing I do seems to land me in some kind of trouble. I ended up going to Home Depot to buy a bent-head needle-nose pliers, which they did not have, though they said they did online. I got the only pliers that could possible grasp the knurled AV ring, and it worked. I was shocked and relieved.
I will most likely get that extended female foster fitting. The recess in the Crown is too small for my fingers. Before I got this compressor this week, I used a hand pump about three times, and its fitting has more gripping area than the AV one, but it's not easy to get at either.
Another problem is that the metal block at the end of the hose on this GX PUMP CS2 Portable PCP Air Compressor crowds the attachment area. It makes finger maneuvering extremely difficult.
And yet another problem: the female fitting that came with the GX compressor would not lock on the male end positively--the pump blew it off when I tried to fill. So, I tried the FX fitting that came with the gun and the Air Venturi one, but neither would thread the hose ending of the pump enough to enable the metal O-ring reach the base of the block and seal. I still cannot pump air! I wasted about five hours today. Now I have to contact Amazon and tell them the pump has a defective (?) part. Thanks a ton if you listened to all this. S7

This post came while I was replying to other comments. Yes, markT, the initial problem was with the 'coupler,' as you rightly identify it for me. I am not a mechanically handy guy. As I said below, the AV fitting is off. Thank you. S7

G52, I went to the link on Amazon and bought this. Thanks a lot. S7

You bleed at the compressor for the gx3 — the gx3 fitting does work for my impact but its way too short to connect — I use the extended fitting

I would suggest a few modifications — buy a hose and a 1/8x1/8 male bsp fitting, put the male x male fitting in the block where your coupler is now and attach the new hose. Use the extended coupler on the new hose. This gets you away from the block with the guage.

while you’re at it get a good filter/water seperator plumbed into your system. I bought all my hpa hoses and fittings from huma air in the netherlands — ships surprisingly fast.

Hey, Heavyopp.
I appreciate the advice and am trying to picture your directions. As I have said a couple of times on AGN, I am not a handy guy. I think your opening clause simply says what it says: I am not sure why you are saying it, if I got it straightly. I would like to get away from that block. I copy on the filter/separator, but I would not know how to "plumb" it in. My brother is a mechanic of long standing; he got all the 'fix-it' genes. Thank you. S7

Didn't your fx gun come with a high quality female foster fitting? All mine have.
Yes, it did. I tried to swap it out with the GX one, when the latter wouldn't attach properly, but it would not fully screw into the block attached to the end of the pump hose. I guess the threading is different. So, I then tried the Air Venturi FFF that I bought a while ago. It too would not screw into the block fully either. I thought it would, as it was close, but I was using too much exertion. I stopped and figured I should see if this coupler attached properly to the Crown nipple before I screwed the fitting into the block any further, and it fit securely. But it just couldn't screw into the block any better, so when I tried to pump air, it leaked from the block end. Then I couldn't get the coupler off the nipple. Sheesh. Thank you for the comment. (Hey, before today, I didn't even know what that piece [the FX Female Foster Fitting] was. I have only owned the Crown for just over a month and don't know much about hands on stuff. S7

Understandable the GX one might be metric threads.

I don’t have the fittings available for a decent picture but this fitting will allow you to connect the proper hose directly to the gx gauge block:

You could also use a male foster quick connect on the block and rig a hose with a female quick connect on both ends. As I said before a good quality water separator/filter is a good idea too.
