What a great gramps!! You would have quickly become my favorite. Please consider the Gamo Urban. It is a very highly respected entry-level PCP rifle. There are hundreds of positive comments on this Forum about the Urban.

You said he likes bullpup thinks it is cool . That is your cue ! get a gun he thinks is "just wonderful "and he will practice more . Pay more attention to what you say to train the right way . Watch his face when he opens the package. A bullpup will light it up . As a kid "everyone " got a lever action , i got a more accurate ,more power pump daisy, Yes my face lite up but it was a pump not a lever. Lot of Bullpups in your price range

He will eventually want to play with your gun, might as well get him the Daystate Delta Wolf. And tell him it’ll be the present for all other Xmas to come too.

I got my oldest boy a Kral NP03, he’s ten. I think it’s the perfect gun for kids learning to shoot, my 5 and 7 year old boys do just fine with it also. They take abuse well, adjustable for lop and cheek rest, very accurate with good shot count also. I think they’re between $350 and $400, so it’s not a bummer if it gets scratched and dinged I’ve went through a few different guns trying to find the right one, and don’t think it can get much better for the job at hand in this price range. If you’ve got to stick with a pup a Kral empire would be pretty sweet for a young one.

Hello, its a little more than you want to spend but, what about an Airfare Escape SS or UL both have adjustable stock for length of pull from 9 3/4 to 14 3/4 and weight less then 4 1/2 lbs w/o optics. I had an old Talon ss for years, my friend is still shooting it now. they make a very nice simple solid gun, well good luck with your decision and great job keeping your grandson involved in shooting Eric

Depending on your budget, there are some used Brocock XR Rangers at AoA right now, Prod, Umarex Notos coming soon in supposedly Dec.....

To be honest, the R7 is still an excellent rifle for a 9yr. Teach him to be patient, take time to aim and not just shoot. But if you do get him a pcp, make sure to get him a hand pump too. He have to earn his muscle like everyone else. Grandpa ain't rich! or is he???

If you can aford it go for a Daystste Revere. Super rifle that will be usueful for your grand, grand son.

The beeman bullpup 1358 I believe was a good small, easy to pump fill gun. It can be acquired new and used fairly inexpensive. It is an accurate and fun small bully.

Hajimoto has a few videos showing what might work, and I believe I saw a picture of a picatinny scope mount onto the pressure tube that would suffice as a bipod mount.

It was not bad at all off bags. Only sold mine due to getting an fx wildcat mk1. It was real accurate out to the 25yrds I have in my yard.

Diana Storm Rider, I love mine and my bandit pistol as well. The Storm Rider is slim and lightweight. It has a Huma reg in it and has a huge shot count.

P15, P35 or Stoeger Bullshark. The first two are SPA and only available in the U. S. from Krale (who is not in the U. S. but ships here). I have 3 P35s. The P15 is the lightest, has a wood stock and is rear cocking. It weighs about 4.5 lbs unscoped. The others have plastic stocks, are center cocking and weigh a little over 5 lbs unscoped. They are all regulated. They are under 30 inches long and have 450mm barrels. It sounds like you have worked him up to this but these are not toys, of course. The 25 caliber will come tuned for about 40 fpe, the 22 a little over 30 and the 177 almost 20 fpe. All will take squirrels cleanly with pellets they like. Mine like H&Ns more than JSBs and Baracuda Match seem to be their favorite (or possibly just the most consistent). My 22 has twice put 3 pellets into exactly the same hole at 25 yards. The 177 is a little less accurate and the 25 the least accurate but it will still put 3 into a quarter inch group at 25 yards. Plenty accurate for most purposes. You should be able to get one under $500. The Stoeger should be available from a U. S. distributor and I have heard good things about customer service on parts. I am pretty sure SPA makes the Bullshark for Stoeger. Almost all the parts seem to be the same. They also have effective shrouds (although the P15 and 35 need a cheap hair curler mod) and can be below 90 db pretty easily.
