Benchrest inside the house Advantage

Hello everyone,

OK I found another advantage for having your benchrest inside the house. On a cold winter morning you can shoot at targets that are outside but you are nice and warm inside :D . Oh and another really good advantage is that you can cook a small pot of Hot Chili between shooting magazines (y)(y):p

LOL very nice. I've thought about sniping squirrels like this to keep nosey neighbors from knowing anything.
Hello @bullseye127

The barrel of the rifle sticks just outside of the window and it makes almost no noise inside the house. The .177cal Crown is pretty quite so I don't think anybody near me can hear it.

@ThomasT - Great idea!!! I just got done shooting outside in 42F weather and my hands are freezing.
Hello @tcarlson777

Tom I just cannot take that cold weather, my poor ole body stops working. My hands and feet get cold and I stop functioning. All I have to do now is tape up a new target which only takes a minute and I am back inside. I am ready for Spring.

Been shooting off my dining room table out a port insert I built for years. I can shoot out to 220 yards. Did it originally for winter shooting but it spoiled me and I do it year round now. Everything is right there. No need to pee ant all my shooting stuff out to the bench. Older, lazier and wiser I guess. When the dining room starts looking like a tuning shop I get that look from my girlfriend and I clean everything up. But I eventually build something or test something new and have stuff everywhere again. Then I get made fun of again. It’s a horrible life.

Hello @Vetmx

OK I call that Older, Wiser and Smarter (y). Like you, I really like the fact that I can close the window and just walk away, then come back at any time and start shooting...well after you open the window.

I shot a bunch this morning, had lunch and just finished shooting again, kind-of-liking this.

Think i will have to enclose a portion of outside where i shoot . my range starts under the screen porch so upright supports are already there and electric so three walls and i'm set . hmm maybe a small wood stove ?
Hello @beerthief

Try finding one of these electric / oil heaters, I have one and it works perfect out in my shop. They look kind of like the old steam heaters.

Hello @iAMzehTOASTY1

Now you made me feel bad, it was 42 here this morning and that is way too cold for me, but a balmy 74 inside my house.

Haha no hard feelings; I just love outdoors and everything it includes. I'd love to be able to shoot from inside like that though; done it at a friend's house and it's nniiccee🤌 but at my place, I gotta go outside for now still. Only difference is my coffee gets colder faster outside🤣

Shooting indoors is pretty much my favorite thing to do. Even the minute or two to put up new targets is too much for these old bones (and I live in the US's icebox - Michigan)! So I opt to shoot short distances with pistol in my basement until it gets to be time to shoot indoors at our sportsman's club range - 25 yds off small tables. Even shoveling out to the truck is getting to be too much.

Hello @rsfrid

I just shot several targets with my Diana Bandit at 10-meters. I was inside the house but it is a very short walk to put up a target at 10-meters and ( I know you will laugh ) I did not get too cold, it is 52 degrees now. I wish I had a 10-meter indoor range to shoot my pistols.

Mine is less than 10 meters - more like 7-8. But It's fine by me. Still hard to put pellets all thru same hole!
