USPS strikes

my package originated 125 miles from my home . it has taken 5 days so far and i get a message that my package was delayed because of bad weather ?????????????
no bad weather as i look at the weather every day . nothing within 200 miles for the last week unless you count 10/15 MPH wind . ok rant over

I read the title and thought the workers may have gone on strike. The postal service is probably hiring seasonal workers right now ramping up manpower for the holiday shopping/shipping season. I hope you receive your goods soon. From what you posted the weather excuse sounds like BS if y’all haven’t had any bad weather around the regional distribution facility.

I don't think USPS is the worst but I have probably the least confidence in them. Sometimes they do great, delivering in a really short period of time. Other times they seem to drag things out. I've had them not deliver on the weekend when they were supposed to and they cite silly excuses. Like they couldn't find my house. They deliver something here almost every day. But they can't find my place? I'm a little far from town and they just didn't want to drive out here that day.

125 miles ? If it was a gun or something I really wanted I would of went and picked it up myself at that distance. But that's just me. From mailing say a postal money order (priority mail) to the east coast from the west coast has always taken longer than say someone mailing me a package from the east coast by at least 2 to 3 days. The postal service needs to revamp their whole system.
I have a feeling the drivers aren't paid enough to care 😂
You might want to rethink that one, check them out... good $$, paid sick leave, paid vacation time, medical insurance cheaper than most Gov workers, Retirement Pension to name a few.

"The wife talked to our carrier today because our mail is being delivered to the house on the next block and vice versa (same address but different street name) he claims it probably was done by a sub carrier. He also let her know that the (post office) is having a problem finding people (sub carriers) that want to work or let alone able to do the job go figure"

I treat tracking packages just like surgery. Wake me up when it’s done, I don’t want to watch. You guys constantly tracking your toys brings so much unnecessary stress to your lives. Unless its a signature package, then we have to.

Exactly!
If you don't understand LOGISTICS then you shouldn't follow tracking. Based on the comments it appears as though a LOT of people just do not understand LOGISTICS. Sometimes, based on volume and destination it's actually cheaper (and less work) for the USPS to take a package 1000 miles instead of just going 100miles. If it were a 1v1 relation between customers and carriers it would be different.

I am still freaked out that in the US parcels can just be left on the doorstep of peoples homes,,,, i do wonder what they do if you live in a ? floor apartment, do they then leave it at the front door or do they climb the stairs and leave it at the apartment door.

You can actually get the same now in Denmark, but it is a option i think a very few would use, i know of no one that dare to do that.
I prefer to guide my parcels to the nearest pickup point ( what used to be called post offices in the old days, but those do not exist in Denmark anymore )
And i am a bit miffed i have to do that on a by parcel procedure, i have complained to all the carriers saying it should be a option to select " send all parcels to a given person to so and so pickup point "
Even if i am retired and so have the option to be home to receive a parcel, i would still prefer to be able to pick it up somewhere when it suit me.

Not least GLS that often get to my door very early in the day, and very often if not always by then i have been spinning in my bed for 6 - 8 hours without sleeping, and so i am in no mood to be disturbed, even if it is a highly anticipated new "toy"
I prefer to get my 2-3-4 hours of sleep ( good days ) first, and then get my parcel.

siht show... i had a package from CA to NY .. hits NJ then goes to AZ then to OH back to NJ and then to NY ummm wtf
Sounds like the Grand tour a stock I bought did. A week to go 125 miles to Dallas. A day to go to Phoenix which is 125 miles south of me. Then for some unknown reason did a right turn Clyde and went to Ashford where it enjoyed 10 days in the humidity. Next stop Salt lake city where it was only 2 days then back to Phoenix. 2 days later it's here in ASH FORK. Poor guy I bought it from was about having a heart attack thinking this beautiful Diana 52 stock is going to be only good for the fireplace by the time I received it.🫣

@Peashooter, we have plenty of "porch pirates" over here. They even get caught on the "ring" doorbell cameras, but the authorities usually will do nothing. The probability of theft rises with a higher population. If you live in rural areas, it is still reasonably safe that your parcel will be there after sitting many hours.
Good neighbors also help. Personally I think that porch robbers are acceptable targets for the discriminate PCP shooters!

USPS this time of year is a crap shoot. I have had tracking say the package was out for delivery and then show up 2 days later!

O yes indeed you have, if i was a American i would be the porch pirate trap door spider.
And the ways some have used to get even with them,,,, well i might go too far, i mean why fling glitter if you can fling faecal matter
A poop claymore i think is reasonable, for low life like that.

Even if there are just 6 million Danes, and most of the idiots reside in and around the capitol, i absolutely trust no one here, even if trust are a major thing in the way Danish society are set up, and often get proven that really you should not have trust.
Then it is still a integral thing for most Danes,,,,, just not this grumpy old guy.

PS: i like the video where the guy come out the door with a AR,,,,,, and the parcel snatcher so called friends just speed off in the background.
