Can a slug liner buck wind better than a pellet liner

I am wondering if the twist rate of a fx slug automatically bucks wind better than lower twist rate of a pellet liner because I'm shooting a fx Maverick sniper 25 cal with a pellet liner and pin probe shooting nsa 38.5gr @940 fps and consistently group .5. .6 with light wind 5 shots and no wind .3. .2 5 shots but then the wind comes and it's usually a little over 1in to inch and a half at 100 just wondering if this is normal and/or if there is anything I can do to improve it thanks in advance.

1/2 moa is the holy grail! And with a liner not designed for that long of slug? The skill alone to be able to shoot under .5 moa would be something? pour super glue all over it and understand how lucky you are! Your liner is one in a million! .25 “@ 100 is one hole in 25 cal btw. So how are you planing to measure any improvement over perfection? Make a video👍🏻

The increased twist rate helps to stabilize longer/heavier projectiles, however it is generally accepted that faster twist rates are worse in the wind due to additional rise or fall caused by wind, especially when the wind is side to side instead of front or back. If a projectile could be made to fly stable without spinning, there may be no rise or fall from L/R winds. I'm not doing a very good job of explaining but since a picture is worth 1000 words...

Sub 1/4 MOA at 100 yards for 5 shots is pretty impressive. Nothing I have shot does that well. My best groups with a 30 cal FX Impact M3 Sniper are more than 3 times that with no wind

Thank you it's a lot of research and time spent perfecting it I also have a fx harmonic tuner a bullet central tensioner and a fx carbon fiber liner I also lube my slugs with WD-40 silicone I spray just a tiny bit onto the foam in a pellet tin then I put some slugs in and swish them around for about 20-30 seconds then I put them back in the box and pull them out when I need them but more than all of those other things prayer helps the most and being thankful to God

Thank you for the explanation that makes a lot of sense and it was actually easier to understand you explaining it more than the picture so I appreciate it

It's definitely not everytime but those are some of my best groups when I know that I didn't make a mistake another thing that I have noticed about firing in the wind is to cock get on target and fire again rapidly as long as you do it right your groups will be tighter because the wind has less time to change in between shots

@Hard2hurt223 Sounds like you’re doing better than a lot of the average Joes. Got any photos of the those targets?
Not on me I usually throw them away I typically go to the range a lot but lately with the holidays coming up and work is hectic I'll definitely post them the next time I get some pics though

If you’re throwing them away then it must not be a big deal to you to shoot those numbers. Try take a pic or two sometimes. If I shoot a decent target I find myself looking at them from time to time like, “I have to work on doing that again.”

Whoa, as many guns as I've seen shoot over the last five years of high-level competition, I've never seen a gun that routinely does 1/2 MOA at 100 yards, let alone 1/4. No one has ever shot even 1 MOA for 25 shots in the 100 Yard finals at RMAC or EBR. First prize at RMAC in June 2023 should be cherry picked with that gun! A quick $20K!!!

I said I by no means do it everytime when the stars align and there is no wind and I do what I'm supposed to do then nice things happen I'm not trying to challenge anyone cuz I know that I can't do it everytime but 2 of my best groups ever were .3and .4 if you take 3 out of 5 shots than it would be .2-.25 I only posted a question about spin drift that's it and I was using some of my best groups as an example and yes with no wind I consistently shoot sub moa I'm not trying to start anything or challenge anyone I shoot for fun not to start somthing

I agree I do have to work on that I used to keep all my targets but they add up quick

I finally got back out to the range it wasn't the calmest day but none the less here are some pics of some groups first one is three shots 2 in the same hole .4 inch group at 100yds the second is 4 shots but I pulled the first shot but if you count the three it's also a .4 and the last is in the wind a little more when it started to pick up so not the best

You have not shot in Ky wind. Lol

Some days are just perfect for shooting without wind flags. Here in PA we had heavily overcast, misty, foggy weather this week. Temps were nearly constant day or night so no inversions, thermals, or mirage. But it’s not common here and I never get to fully take advantage of those days.
