New to airgunns

Since you are new to air guns I will offer this bit of advice. If you are buying a spring piston air rifle like the Hatsan you mentioned I would keep the power level in the 12 fpe range. When spring guns start getting up in power they become more difficult to shoot well and the fun factor will start to go away. What is your use for an air rifle? Unless you have a need to shoot larger pests then I would look to a rifle with less power. Personally I love springers in the 7-12 fpe range. The HW30 is only about 7fpe and is just a joy to shoot targets with. The HW50 offers a bit more power and is still really fun to shoot. Let us know what you intend to shoot most and we can better help you make a good choice.

Thank you. Is this the one you personally use?
Yes. It's never gotten old and still works good as new.
I also forgot to mention that it's highly "moddable". Here's a pic I took with a silencer, butt stock, picattiny rail, and barrel rail. It's great to play around with.

AS above stated DO NOT GET HUNG UP IN 1100 or 1200 feet per second advertising . most pellets do not fly well at those speeds. IF you can afford to buy a quality air gun buy once /cry once . Really not much more, but so much more quality and it will last a lifetime .

P>S> watch out for black friday scams , buy from a quality dealer,

C02 right ? you have to buy gas instead of grab gun and tin of pellets ?

Ground hogs, squirrel, opossum, rabbit.

Are you talking about the Hatsan BT65? I started out with a .22 & .25. They were perfectly adequate & hard hitting guns to get started in your pcp adventure. I had many successful pesting outings & learned about airgun shooting & basic disciplines. Like ALL "budget/entry level" airguns, they have their plusses & minuses but are capable of being accurate hunting guns. Even WITH the QE (quiet energy) shroud they are anything but quiet! I added a Donny FL Ronin (mounted on SHROUD, not BARREL - an important distinction) which made an already long gun even longer but it quieted the bark & INCREASED its accuracy.

I just saw a Gamo add for 1400 fps! Do ANY pellets fly well at those speeds? Maybe in a smooth bore they would! :)

Possibly as long as they stay supersonic. Most pellets are no efficient designs for supersonic flight. Possibly pointed pellets. Trans-sonic buffet will destroy further accuracy. Those types of pellets that would yeild that velocity are lightweight alloy pellets. There is some discussion/debate about too light pellets in magnum springers damaging the gun from not having enough back pressure.

FWIW (as anecdotal) I have shot two alloy pellets out of my 0.177 R9. The H&N FTT green (5.71gr) and the H&N Baracuda green (6.64gr). The lighter FTT shoots at 1,200fps (supersonic) and the Bara greens shoot at 1,090fps (just subsonic). The lighter FTT are double the groupng size of the Bara greens.

I'd like to try lead round balls at that speed🧐🤪
Interestingly I compared lead ball in my 0.177 R9 and 0.22 Benjamin Trail NP2. The ball actually has about 20% LOWER MV compared with conventional pellets of the same weight of the round ball. I speculate that a conventional pellet creates a better air seal because if the traditional skirt while the RB has much more air blow by.

I would be down to try my whole collection at that speed as well though🤣
