Reality check needed, please

In your scenario the seller still didn't handle things properly. He should have voiced the situation to both parties, given the first party a chance to pay or told the new party that if the original sale didn't go through, he would let him know. Either way, if the seller was waiting on payment the ad should have been marked SPF.

How do we actually know what did or didn't happen? (other then what the OP is telling us?) I've messaged sellers numerous times with ad's that say "SPF".

OP isn't asking questions about hypothetical scenarios. We kind of have to take his word on how it went down and give advice based on that. If OP is lying, which based on his history I doubt, the seller will call him out on it.

I say leave them a negative and if the seller retaliate with a negative feedback just ask the mods to remove it. Pretty sure they can especially under the circumstances.

It's pretty chitty what the seller did. I've sold numerous items online to a low baller to just move the item and then get a message from someone else saying they'll take it full price. Doesn't matter deal is a deal, BE A FRIGGIN MAN AND STAND BY YOUR DAMN WORD!

I know he's not asking questions, but everyone else should be prior to making their decision. Maybe it was from the line of work I was in for 3 decades, but I NEVER take just one side's word to be gospel. I've seen innocent people actually get killed when someone did. These forum posts are child's play by comparison.

Maybe it's just me but sure seems like this place it getting more and more like FB.........making it less and less a place I want to hang out.

Idk what to tell you man but what I can tell you is that you're the one making your experience here more and more like Facebook. Take some accountability for that. You very easily could have just skipped by the thread. You didn't have to comment. Instead you chose to lawyer OPs post which was pretty much guarenteed to give you a bad experience from the get go. Sometimes you just need to let things go, like I am after posting this. I'm washing my hands of this thread and going to look at cool new toys that people bought on Black Friday. I would recommend you do the same for sanity sake.

Edit: Didn't intend to post that first part

I could see how this could happen... If the buyer received a full price offer via PM while he's chatting on the phone with OP, sees an opportunity to make a few extra bucks off the new offer, and texts OP that he sold it at full price and refunds OP. Does this make it right? NO, but, it's a feasable explanation in this digital, fast paced world!

Hello members
I'd like a reality check regarding whether I should leave negative feedback in a member's profile.
Here is why
This morning I found a classified for a gun I wanted to buy.
I Emailed the seller & set up a phone call.
I asked a few questions, but more importantly felt that the seller was OK
The conversation was cordial
I made a very reasonable offer and promised immediate PayPal payment (including fees)
He agreed
Then, the moment I had finished sending the money in came a text telling me he had accepted a full price offer.

He, of course, refunded the $ and the fees.
But that's not the point

I consider his behavior highly unethical and would like to say so in feedback

Thoughts please!
Ed
I would guess he is just not a keep-my-word person. there always have been people like that and always will be. I have always looked at it as a blessing that they returned the money and the item may very likely not be as nice as they claimed it to be, leaving me fortunate not to have purchased it. I would most likely thank him for returning my money but also stated my disappointment in his not keeping his word. If he is a decent fellow he might profit from your comment and do better next time. Just my opinion, now have a nice day

Three pages over the course of a couple days? Most active members already sniffed this topic out. If I wronged a person on this forum and they started a topic about it, at the very least he would receive a PM from me saying WTF? So that leads me to believe he uses the forum as his Craigslist. Not even concerned about feedback. As long as his name isn’t mentioned or even if it is, most will forget in a week or two. New members show up daily with room on their credit cards to buy something dumb and don’t understand how to research a seller. So in reality, no system is full proof. Personally if I got duped by someone here, I wouldn’t start a topic about it. I would just leave him negative feedback and call it a day.

If he accepted your offer? The deal should have been sealed.
A review IS intended to let the rest of us know the about any seller or buyer.
If only good reviews are allowed? Then it's a flawed system.
I'll admit I have made commitments with serveral sellers here and been late to actually send the funds.
But I have always kept in contact and even offer up more money to cover my delays.

I'm gonna say it's worthy of negative feedback. I'd certainly be disappointed in the sellers poor character and actions. As hard as it is for a seller to turn down more money, backing out of a deal is despicable. Unfortunately when people don't have to look people in the eye it's too easy for them not to stay to their word. In short I'd be pissed as well.

if only there was a recording of this perfect telephone conversation, we have only heard one side. So can we judge by one witness?
so far we have,
1: no crime was committed, money was returned
2: common moral understanding among gentlemen, my word is good as gold,, the seller is less than steller,, bad behavior, but not bad legally. Are we imposing our standards on others, it is a moral issue , not a legal one, there are hurt feelings, but not hurt wallets.
3: the op come public looking for support against said seller,,, bad karma,,, it makes the OP look bad,
there are no winners except those who learn and grow from bad judgements,,, The Good Lord knows that I AM far from perfect
Now ,,, we members are looking down at each other, when we are not involved, we are lured into others drama and took a side
and that folks ,, is why our host does his best, to avoid touchy topics that divide us

Also: if the dog would not have stopped to poop he would have caught the rabbit,, he stopped and (MODERATOR EDIT: offensive term removed) ***haggled*** the seller down, if, if, if, if, he had just offered full price at the get go,,,, non of this nonsense would have occurred ,,,actions have consequences,, and I AM an idiot for even commenting on this, I need help
