.22 or .25 for crow hunting?

Crows are pretty spooky in my neck of the woods. I wish I could get close enough to use an airgun.

.25 will always hit harder.... !!!
It is not just a matter of fpe, same fpe on .25 and .22, the .25 will cause more damage because more diameter of damage on tissue.
Of course if it get to the vitals both pellets, normal, Hades or slugs will cause dead.... But Diameter makes the energy of projectile to be absorbed the better.

i dunno, i can say from experience a 'typical' .22 can be alittle marginal on crow at 50+, might have to pop them 2-3 times to finish them off .. .25 will probably be more positive long as your sighted alright ..

I popped one with a .30 cal at 25 yards, and it still took a few hopsbefore it went down. I say go for the .25 cal!

Ive killed a ton with .177 with howler slugs shooting out of daystate redwolf. It comes down to ammo and shot count

I am certainly not recommending it but I shot one last winter at about 38 yards with my TX200 .177 shooting an Air Arms 8.4 Gr pellet at about 14.5 fpe. Hit it dead center mass in the chest. It flew about 30 yards after impact and dropped stone dead.
I have shot several with my RedWolf HP shooting the JSB Jumbo Monster Redesigned 25.39 Gr with nothing but terminal results.

Whichever you have already that you can shoot accurately at the ranges you want, if you have both, whichever is more accurate in your hands at the ranges you will shoot. Crows are easy. 10 ft-lbs on target, not muzzle is more than enough with either to make clean kill if you do your part.
It depends on shot placement. With the right shot placement a sub 12 fpe .177 @26 yards can drop them zero movement. Whereas a .25 with 50 FPE hitting at the wrong location seemingly a center of mass can have them fly away. I noticed that most birds have their heart and lungs higher up in the body than mammals.

Ended up in a tricky spot, crow infestation with need for immediate results, no fly-offs to die elsewhere. Tried three calibers, only .30 stopped fly-offs. Crows gone, neighbors credit bird flu epidemic, just nod my head knowing much more JSB, than RSV. WM

When in doubt, there is not substitute for displacement of tissue

It’s all about shot placement. My dad drops all of them stone dead with a Leshiy .22 shooting 18’s at 815fps. No head shots either. He just knows where to aim.

I’ve dropped a few like rocks with .25 JSB King Diabolo 25.39 grain pellets shooting from an EDgun Lelya 2.0. If you hit them right, that’s all she wrote.
