Still on the hunt for a great .177 slug shooter! Any suggestions?

First and foremost try high reg pressure, by that I mean 140-150 bars. Second the 177 liner has 18 twist rate and 13 grain is about as long of a protector as the twist rate can stabilize sufficiently. Depending on the altitude and speed you might be able to shoot 15 grain 177 slugs ok with FX 1:18 twist rate.

Will give it a shot!

I would think a single regulator FX with the right barrel length, liner, and tune is going to be your best bet. Maybe even an older MKII with the smaller (~50cc?) plenum might be a good platform. For the newer heavier slugs I would go with at least a 1:16 twist liner, or faster if you can find one. A quick sharp burst of air will be your only hope with such a small bore volume; and a double reg setup might not allow you the high pressure setting needed.

Thomas, Thanks for the heads up with JASAR!!!

Be careful of barrel with no choke, they are naturally VERY ammo/size sensitive. With no choke you likely have to go with bigger slugs and the whole thing becomes a choke. Works fine for PB because they got power to spare, even lowly 22LR has chamber pressure of up to 25,000psi or 1700 bars, we have airgun people complain about 2000 psi or 140 bars reg pressure is too high.

Let us know how it turns out. I am leaning towards the RTI over the AGT. Both are fantastic guns but I love to tinker and the RTI is easier to make reg adjustments.
Oh, they are easy for sure. Keep in mind that i bought a Priest 2 20" and now I have a full Prophet 1 with a 24" custom barrel. It is also my first pcp.
My only regret is that the Prophet 2 is way more powerful and efficient. Nowadays i would buy a Prophet 2 Performance .22 and then i will try to find a Daystate ART Barrel .177 to adapt

So as the title states, still looking for that 177 slug shooter. I just cancelled my FX Panthers order, figured I'd wait a while and see if any issues come up with this new platform before I reorder one. This frees up some funds for another gun! So far my 177's are a Daystate Delta Wolf 23", FX Impact M3 600mm and AGT Vixen long. My Delta Wolf is a fantastic pellet shooter and shoots Howler slugs ok but I really need to crank the reg way up to get speeds up with anything 13gr or higher. My M3 does well with Zan 13gr and no lack of power which is nice. It doesn't seem to like any of the 15gr and heavier slugs. I do have the 177 slug barrel on order but who knows when those will start shipping. My Vixen is a great gun but never intended it to be a heavy slug shooter due to its short barrel and small tank. Its my go to for pesting around the house with JSB 10gr pellets. I have narrowed my next gun to the RTI Prophet2 performance or Uragan 2 600mm. Let me know if any of you have any experience on these 2 with 15gr or heavier slugs! Which do you think would be the better slug shooter or is there another gun I may have over looked!!!

How much power and distance(accuracy) do you want for your upcomming .177 slugshooter?.. wants your expectations really?..

Seems the RTI has a lot of power, I have a RTI PP II 22 caliber with 510mm barrel CZ shooting JSB 18gr at 960 FPS , Regulator set at 130 bar, I just switched out barrels to a LW 177 510mm shooting 13 gr JSB 177 at 1170 FPS dime size group at 28 yards but opened up to half dollar at 48 yards. Reset regulator to 98 Bar did not touch hammer shooting 13 gr at 900 FPS dime size at 48 yards,, Even my PP I long shooting 50gr pellets at 880 FPS I have never had the Regulator past 130 bar I have turned on the hammer spring two turns.

No big expectations really. My M3 will shoot Zan 13gr no problem with the standard liner. I want something that will shoot 15 - 20gr slugs 100 to 150yards accurately. Looks like the new slug liner may be what I'm looking for. I just love the 177 cal and now with slugs just makes me want to push myself and my setup further. I have a 22, 25 and 30 slug shooters, those are easy to find. Its just a personal challenge I guess!

I had a RTI Priest2 in 177, never should have sold it!. That thing was supper accurate with 13gr Zan slugs around 940fps. Would shoot 1/2" groups at 50yards. I've also been thinking of picking up another RTI. The only thing holding me back on the Prophet2 is all the issues people have been having with the new valve. High extreme spreads? Don't know if its just a few people making a lot of noise or a real issue???

I have to stop you right here.
15 and 20gr .177 slugs need different twist rate. Especially with such a small caliber, cross density changes A LOT. Choose your distance, choose your slug's weight and only after all that you can choose your barrel.

They have this problem with the first 2-300 rifles. Now everything is working fine (I was in RTI 1 months ago and saw the "new" valve). Even if you are not lucky enough to purchase a recent built gun, you can always contact their customer service, it is excellent and, most of time, free.

I have posted several images here how well my Daystate Revere shoots 16-20grain ZAN slugs. I am in process to have some 22grain .177s made. I too want extend the .177cal beyond the 150m. The Daystates like the RW with conventional land/groove rifling stabilize the slugs ekstremly well. I hope the Skout Eepuck with all its hightech can do up to some 50 ft/ibs with 23-24grain slugs in 177cal.

I have been shooting slugs in my .177 rifles for almost 3 years now - Started out swaging my own 13 gr and 16 gr using GMI die sets (y)

Have shot my Daystate Red Wolf .177 HP with 16 gr slugs at 1020 FPS (37 FPE) out to 208 yards (5 shot group was about the size of my fist).

Several of my rifles (Daystate Red Wolf .177 HP, Daystate Delta Wolf .177 HP, RTI Prophet .177 and now BRK Ghost .177 HP) are very accurate with 13 to 16 gr slugs at 100 metres or 110 yards :)

How does the Prophet compare to the Delta Wolf with shooting slugs?
