So what kind of water do I use to cool my yong heng compressor

RODI or distilled water has no or almost no dissolved solids so it limits deposits but since the water ions have a charge but have been stripped of solids to bond to the ions, you can get leaching from metals or erosion.

Water whetter and coolants supply solids to bond with the ions helping create a neutral charge and lessen the deposits.

Adding chemistry so that you have 7ph and 1000 ppm of nitrites in the system will keep corrosion from happening.

If your system is sealed and under pressure, the coolant can last forever. Adding O2 via an open container or exposure to ambient air will drastically reduce the life of your coolant.

When I used a YH, I always ran distilled with water wetter coolant added. Not sure if the coolant made any measurable difference. I also always had a couple of freezer packs in the bucket. When done, I used a funnel with a fine mesh strainer to catch anything and put the coolant back in empty gallon jugs. Kept those jugs in a garage refrigerator so that it was already good and cold before next use.

I would think the coolent also is the water pump lubricant in a car so maybe in any pump it could help longer that life?

I just ues distilled water with ice paks and red dye so I can watch the coolant flow. Hottest it has gotten filling a large 88cf from 4200pis to 4500 psi is 57 c , under the max temperature. I did change out the water pump to a larger aquarium pump, helps with the higher pressure water. All though the water jackets in the compressor are smaller than the feeding tubes, water flows through with faster velocity.
Just make sure you run the compressor for 3 to 4 minutes before the air pumping cycle. Change your old regularly.
I also use ice in the bucket that holds the large air vessel so I can maximize my fill when it returns to the ambient air temperature.
My YH is 3 years old and no problems, knock on wood.

I use distilled with antifreeze. I also have an old radiator fan blowing on the compressor fins. My 120 to 12 vdc converter just died so I need a new one. Red die is a great idea. I pull the return tube to verify flow. Have fan mounted on the box the yen’s compressor came in. Worked great. Ordering new AC to dc convertor and looking for red die

The ones that come with Yong Heng's are not ones that benefit from lubrication. They are magnetically driven, the armature is sealed and is in the water.

Clean water is best for them.
Even so theres got to be a shaft and seal between the motor and impeller through a housing , right? Well a diaphragm pump dont but overtime the diaphragm goes bad . It comes fown to what ever you feels best in the end 😇.

Marksman,
Use Florida well water, from the tap. Compressor remains in place while water bucket, hoses and pump are set up and broken down each time. Use several quart-size frozen bottles to chill water. Dump used water in washing machine on laundry day since no small kids in household for drowning concerns. Use shop compressor to blow out YH water jacket to prevent corrosion. WM

Smart man!

Pure water is one of the best solvents in the world, i.e. it will erode your pipes. Do not use distilled water.

Any reasonably clean water that isn't pure water should be fine.

This is why a nitrite inhibitor is added to pure water, the water no longer wants to leach the metals off to bond to the charged molecules. But yes, 'pure' water is a great solvent and is also a poor choice to drink.
