Beeman P17

Wish I had known just how hard it is to pump the P17 and I would have pass on it. After finally shooting it about 50 times it's going to be one of the safe queens for a good while. It made my Hatsan 95 break barrel rifle much easier to cock. Getting older it seem like some things just gets more difficult

Hang in there. I'm sure with the proper technique you can make it work.
Hold it close to your body when closing and be careful of pinch points and clothing.

I bought one of those awhile back, too. It does shoot nice. But it is a hassle to close it. Maybe it needs a custom brace attached to the faux slide, to double as a cocking handle. Even better, make it a top folder.
What I dislike even more is the loading port.

I rest it across my thigh when cocking the pistol. For me that is the easiest way to do it.

Like Moog I rest it across my thigh, if I'm at the range I might use the top of the bench, of course it has a towel/cloth on top. I've had a P-3 for almost 20 years.

I just went out to the garage and shot the P17 40 times.

In about 15 minutes using 7.9 CPH

The trigger is as good as any of my other pistols:

Yes the cocking effort is a bit heavy even for a 77 year old partially handicapped curmudgeon.

But it is fun with a capital FUN!

Two hands, seated, not rested=10 shots under a dime at 10 yards.

The perfect little gun for your fishing tackle box for when the fish are not biting.

You can shoot the bugs that land on the water..

I was a bit frustrated too when I first got my P17 and like you I was tempted to side line it. Just keep shooting it and you will get used to it. I really enjoy mine now and cocking and loading is no big deal.

I intended to just mount it temporarily to see if it helps, then pull it back off and apply black paint. But yep you guessed it, that was 3 years ago.

I'm gonna copy that. I'm also looking at it to see if I can figure out a way to lock the slide down on the outside, so as to get rid of the crosspin that gets in the way of loading. I can think of a couple of possibilities.
