Subsonic ammo and a can (huge hassle though) takes care of the noise. 17 HMR looks interesting. Never shot one, but at 30-40 cents a round is still three to four times as expensive as subsonic 22LR ammo.

No buy 4 get one but prices are not jacked up either. Or just buy overseas and get several sleeves. Same lot number. You know you will eventually use them.

Unfortunately no cans in California. Even though it will save your ears at the range. Wish they made nets mandatory for catching shells at the range too.

Solar wasn’t cheap but at 56 cents a KWH during 4 hour peak window it will pay for itself in less than 6 years. I moved here from cooler location with cheaper electricity, summer bill at most was $250. Before solar I got the shock of my life when I got 750 dollar electric bill for the month during the summer, gotta keep fat bonuses of CEO of PG&E fat right? 😵

Solar cells are very reliable now with 10 year warranty. Even if it breaks I still get free electricity for 4 years. My buddy’s solar system was 20 years old and going strong when he sold the house which increase the value too. Keep in mind technology moves at break neck speed, what was not great just few years ago are pretty amazing now. And solar has no moving parts vs wind, plus not all wind, solar and storage systems are created equal.

Been there done that. They come to basically the same price with shipping as Trenier charges more. The free tins, lower up front prices. It’s all sales gimmicks. Trenier is probably better if you are ordering a bunch of different types or calibers. Otherwise six of one half doz of another.

Thanks for the info. They are a little more shipping than PA as I’m on the wrong side of the country from UA but UA is still 5 bucks cheaper. 👍

I have 4 17hmrs in the household. They are substantially louder than a HV 22LR. They're a wicked little round at 2800 fps. There's no match grade 17HMR made. Inch and half at 100 yards is about normal. They're great for pest inside 125 maybe 150 yards. Very flat shooting. I love the cartridge but its much louder and more expensive to shoot than 22LR.
This is an airgun forum and I don't want to break the rules more than I may have. I only stepped in to prevent a possibly bad purchase.
Anyone want more information on this cartridge just message me here.

When I was shooting competitive center fire I thought it would be smart to figure cost per round, compared different powder costs and all the rest not to mention time and equipment. I was wrong, I got so worried for awhile about cost I wasn’t enjoying it. When I just quit worrying about it I shot much better and enjoyed it a lot more. With airguns I keep up with total cost but I don’t want to know cost per shot. As long as the bills are paid…..
