I have both, my 124 since 1975, resealed twice in the intervening years. It is a little easier to cock than the Sport. havethe 124 equipped with an Anschutz front diopter and a Williams receiver sight with a Gehmann adjusable iris. My Spogot hrt has a smaller Hawke 2-7 Airmax scope. I got up early and went for a 3 mile walk had a light breakfast, then went out and serviced, that is greased my Scag ZTR mower, that thing has 15-18 grease fittings and quite a few are rather difficult to access, and my old back was hurting from bending over and around parts. Just after lunch I took my Sport out for a few shots, maybe a dozen, did not set up my shooting table with rest but just sat down at a little patio table, rested my left elbow on the table and supported the gun with the left hand. First shot ten yards at the small target on a Crosman dueling tree, easy, then out to 40 yards at a little swing target. Being a little tired and achy the gun was weaving around but I managet 9 out of ten shots at that little 1 1/2" diamond swinger, enough to satisfy me . I have been getting up early and walking to get myself in a little better shape for a stress test next month, doing pretty good for an oldd man, I'm getting about an 18 minute mile, with a lot of ups and downs, low to high point is about 130 feet difference with other ups and downs along the way and in between. Early last year I was walking a lot then pulled something in one of my ankles, so had to stop for about 8-9 months to let it heal, and noticed my gait is not quite the same as before, that foot tends to slap down a little but at least no pain.
I like my old 124 with iron sights, it just handles and points better that way. The Sport seems to be as good with the factory irons as with a scope so far as handling goes. That factory rear on it is one of the best factory rear sights I have seen on an air gun. just wish they had made it to be easily removeable so I could try it with a diopter rear sight.
