If you want to feel the pleasure of ...

A) Plinking at 220 yards ...... Buy a Sidewinder .25 Cal.

B) Hunting at 220 yards ....... Buy a Sidewinder .30 Cal.

These rifles are the pínacle of our hobbie.

PD.- I never talk about EBR that I have never done.
I mean I rung steel at 200 and 250 at NAC with an out of the box panthera with boxed ammo and I only owned that rifle for less than 1 weeks time.

I also built an old MK2 impact and shot a wiffle ball 6 times at 265 yards...

@Emu Where does the Western Rattler .357 fit in? And how does it compare to a gun like the AAA Slayer .357? How big of a factor is the removable mag as seen in the Sidewinder? Would you still like it if the magazine could not be removed (like the Rattler’s magazine)?
I just own sidewinders, I have not shot with the Rattler nor AAA.

I have never owned a rifle with fix magazine. So I have never had the experience.

I indeed would like to buy an Evol Paradigm in .30 Cal, but already having the Sidewinder, the Vulcan 3, the Vulcan 2 and the Evanix Rainstorm all in .30 Cal, I foresee very small improvement chance with the Paradigm.

I have just two .357, a Jager and a Windy City. I think those rifles are deer hunting rifles for closer distance than 70 yards, optimal 40 yards.

I would not use a .357 for anything smaller than a deer. Then an ethical Con appears: how ethical is to shoot a deer with an air rifle above the distance you are absolutely confident that you will reach the heart?

If that distance is 70 yards then the rattler would not shine above the Windy City and becomes not necessary.

But it's very likely that in the near future I could apply for a rattler.

I hate to be a party pooper, but the sidewinder .22 i had was one of the least pleasurable guns I have ever shot. The ergonomics didn't even exist, and the shot cycle was so janky it scared me a little bit as to its reliability and longevity. When it came time to cull the heard for funeral funds, the sidewinder was the easy pick!

@Emu , while I love that you’ve found your end all, be all rifle FOR YOU!, it’s getting tiring reading post after post from you stating exactly the same think. we get it, you like the sidewinder. Now maybe backing up with some pictures or videos of you doing work with it may make your posts more interesting.
As they say, a picture is worth a thousand words!! Videos even more 😁

Sweeeeeeeet!!!🤙
🤔my ballistics calculator says at that range my Lothar still has 4ftlbs of energy🤣
That's like my 880 at 90 yards🤔
I guess lean back and aim like I'm firing a cannonball?😅🤷‍♂️
Dangit...I wanna try now🤪
That rifle (I can not mention anymore in the forum) broke in pieces a small stone at 190 yards this morning.

I'm the one that bought Wimpanzee's .22 Sidewinder, and sadly I pretty much have to agree with him - except I don't fear the action . . . but agree that it is nowhere near as robust as my .22 Huben despite the similarities. It is loud - even just from the action cycling, and I don't know why (the Huben is so much quieter in this regard). I did swap out the factory moderator with the 1/2 - 20 adaptor from AoA and the discharge sound is now well managed by my Huma 40 Compact, but the action is so loud, which is made worse by having to put your head on it. With both the Sidewinder and the Huben at the same power level, the Sidewinder is a good 8 dB louder than the Huben, both with good moderators on them (the Sidewinder is now a good 5 dB quieter than it was before). I do not find it to be "backyard friendly," while the Huben is.

I'll say that I don't think there is anything wrong with this particular Sidewinder - it shoots great and does everything they say it should. It just does not do it as well as the Huben does (I can even get two shots off with the Huben as fast or faster than the Sidewinder does in full auto, as the Huben trigger resets with just 1-2 mm of movement).

All that said, if I did not have the Huben I think I would be blown away by the Sidewinder as a well functioning select fire gun - I would just attribute the shortcomings I see against the Huben to the different functionality of the gun. But I can tell you that it is lacking when compared to the Huben.

I'm not unhappy with the purchase - in a weird way it made me love an appreciate the Huben even more. I'm still working out what I want to do with it, but if something ends up needing to be sold off, the Sidewinder will be the first to go.

I haven't tried shooting my .30 over 100 yards yet, I've got it sighted in at 50 right now, which it does very well. I have to aim at least 6 inches high to hit something at 100. I'd have to get a different scope to shoot at 200 lol.

Edited to add, the performance would probably be better at greater distances if I opened up the regulator some, I haven't experimented very much with that functionality yet.
