I'm curious, you have an energy limit to be legal in Britain right? Obviously, you cannot buy an "illegal" airgun at the store but airguns are so easy to modify for more power. How do the officials regulate you? Is there a cop waiting at the range with a chronograph? If your out shooting/hunting out in the country, who would know if your putting out more power? And if you are caught making more power, how do they fine you? Sliding scale based on the the output or one base fine? Would you loose the gun? Go to jail?

I'm not trying to be snide or in any way disrepectful, just curious as to how your system works.

me too

If you are caught, think prison.
Most UK guys are sensible enough to regulate themselves.
Not worth losing everything for, job etc

Those wanting higher power go FAC, legally.

Most UK power level air guns have anti tamper device fitted, easy to see if anything has been altered.

Easier just to keep it simple and legal.

Think you're gonna just say "I think I'll go get an FAC today". Ha! Sit up and beg like a doggie. See if mummie will allow you to have a treat. Lick mummie's feet some more and she'll think about it................... Perhaps next year.......... if she doesn't forget. and isn't too busy, so many little doggies to keep safe! And you've been a very good obedient little twit.
Then,,,,,,, maybeeeee. IF, IF......... you can prove you have nice safe inspected and approved land to shoot it. And only EVER shoot it there. Maybe. We'll see.
Now GO AWAY!

Well guys THINGS ARE VERY DIFFERENT ACROSS THE POND IN THE UK!!!!!!
Possessing a Firearm without a license is jailable offense..with a fine attached
Any airgun above 12.0000000 fpe is considered a FIREARM!!!!!!
Also access to any sort of adjustments of power (to make it over the limit) Must covered and sealed!!
No matter the weight of the Pellet... so Airguns are detuned to 11 to 11.5 fpe so they won't be over the Limit!
So at any time... especially in the Field.. Law Enforcement is allowed to confiscate and test ANY AIRGUN.
I Mean Any Airgun that is not on your FAC- FireArm Certificate!!
Also any Airgun Parts that is considered part of the Fire Control and Pellets, must be purchased for a Licensed Dealer.
You also need to have an RFD(Registered Firearms Dealer) license to make airgun receiver!!!
Ask Chip Smith about this when he made those Titanium receivers!!!

HMM reminds me of IL .

What if you want to build your own, is there a place you take it for testing/certification? What about when a gun needs servicing? Can you do the work yourself or does it have to go back to the vendor/factory?
Thanks
Chris
Service and chrono yourself, or with buddies. No problems.
Alter a UK limit airgun, it and probably you become untouchable.

I am a UK citizen but live permanently in Florida. UK Air gun laws are incredibly frustrating for all but casual plinkers or target shooters.

I don't want to break forum rules, but even obtaining a license for a shotgun over there requires a doctor, lawyer, justice of the peace etc to sign a document of character or guarantee and if you do not move in those social circles then it is very difficult to obtain one. A fire arms license is a whole new level of checks and balances so most folks don't even try.

Recreational shooting and hunting, therefore, is pretty much reserved for the elite and not for the 'common folk'

All I can say, is God bless America!

Freedom doesn't matter to Americans anymore. They don't deserve it. They want to go back to tyranny. And be safe............

Man said he wanted a king to tell him what to do. Like other nations. And we were warned but did it anyway............

i am on several UK forums and mostly talk Field Target . from talking to them i gather most of the shooters shoot below the <12 limit , say 9.4 to 11.5 FPE
and they post scores as high as we do very consistently .
Oooooo! I do believe that is what I am chasing after😅🤣🤷‍♂️
Just want an insane shot count to boot 🤣
Need.me a paper killer!!🤪🤙

Well, thanks for the answers guys. What a drag it must be to live there having been here, but I suppose they say the same thing about the US and our gun crimes. I've been told that since Britain outlawed guns in 1997, knifings have gone thru the roof. Probably just another silly rumor.

Chris
Stabbings are common there now but it tends to be gangs in inner cities and, I hate to say it, but a certain demographic.

Violent crime and belligerence is MUCH more common there than here. I'm talking fists and bottles; you can blame the alcohol culture for that.

i have a better idea just join this forum
i'm here in the states but the UK forum is very interest to belong to
most of the shooters that are not FAC licensed like their rifle in the 10.5 FPE area and the pistols can only be 6 FPE max
i personally spend a lot of time on the forum well setup

Yeah, but in the USA ... every other day we get to read/watch videos about the latest shooting rampage --->
--- Why use fists and bottles when most anyone can get their hands on an AR-15(n).

Then again, all Nations have problems --- no matter what the Laws areo_O.

- I just quietly shoot my (19) airguns at paper targets:).

Just like here, except we have guns. Gotta wonder what those Lib-turds are thinking. What's next? Sticks and stones? Perhaps baseball bats and CA glues will have to go as well. Heck, anything with anything but a soft rounded edge will have to be confiscated...
OK, I won't go any deeper down that hole, I promise.
