Recommendations for "budget or moderate priced" spotting scope for 800 yards and under $400.
From my research, a 20x60x60 spotting scope is NOT recommended for Xtra long range target spotting at 800 yards.

So, I'm looking for spotting scope recommendations which has a minimum of 20x60x80 magnification. I have a budget of $400 or less.

If you can keep your comments and suggestions "ON TOPIC", I would like to hear from you.

I paid $110 for an Athlon Talos and out to 500m it works great. I would imagine the Athlon Argos 20-60x85 would be a nice step up from there.

If you watch the Cameraland ads, they often have sales and special offers, open box etc…they move a ton of glass so there are often bargains to be had.

A club member from the Diablo Rod and Gun club in Concord CA, made a very generous offer to sell his Alpen 20x60x80 spotting scope. It was a tremendous deal. I think this 20x60x80 scope is exactly what I was looking for. Thank you all.

If you already own a quality telephoto or zoom lenses for Canon or Nikon you can use one of these. I have one it works better and sharper than a low-end Nikon spotting scope.

I use mine with a 300mm F4 L EOS lens + Canon 1.4 tele convertor. That give me an superior image to my 60mm Nikon.

I have a eos 400mm f5.6 that i wouldn't mind trying this to run it against my Pentax spotter to see a winner. This paticular sample of the 400mm really can produce extraordinary results.
