Blocking members ADMIN

I donk know . The guy in question through a 3ed party days hes not blocking me but yet his posts are invisible to me in threads and i cant pull up his profile thing to private message him just as if he or me were on one or the other block/ ignore list..

I block nobody so not my end

I was able to add him and then remove him to see if it was a glitch after the fact to see if it fixes it .

Doing that was also kinda funny by ising a posts @so&so link thing from another post ..

Anyway that feature is kinda lame all around ..lol.

So he says im not blocked/ ignore by him and hes not by me whats the deal on that then ?
Just because its lame for YOU doesnt mean its not a useful tool for many others here. With the obnoxiousness of so many on the net, it makes it far nicer to have the block feature not to see their garbage. No I'm not an easily triggered snowflake, but its so much more peaceful without seeing their bs.

Thankfully we don't have so much of it on this forum as compared to others, though some are pushing it, including some responding in this thread.

Hmmm..ya seem easily triggered here? 🥴

I depends. You all have good points. If you have a Troll that waits for your every post, then immediately puts you down and criticizes what you do or say, then they deserve to be blocked. I’ve had a few Trolls and blocking them was the best thing I ever did. 😉
A troll or in reality a stalker shouldn’t have to be blocked by a member. A Moderator should be made aware of it and the appropriate actions taken. There is no call for following someone around criticizing them. We are all just anonymous people who will never meet. Why someone would hassle someone online who has no bearing on their day to day home life is beyond me.

Good questions. *******😂 This went on with daily criticism of EFT when we started that a few years ago, and with EBR and RMAC how 100Y BR was a joke, constant snide remarks, name calling, etc. Mods will do nothing about stuff like that. The Easy Button was to block them. Everyone is happy….

My long-term forum experience was with 24hourcamfire.com . . . I never blocked anyone, and most everything was allowed by the forum owner. This was really enjoyable to have free and open discussions. In the 2o years I was a member there, there was only one member (Big Stick) who was blocked by admin. He would always resurface under a different screen name) I am relativley new here and have had two or three admin emails whacking my pee pee. So, I have learned my lessons! 🍻 This is not 24-hour campfire!

In case there are others like me who didn’t know, the block feature on this site is a bit different from most other forums. It not only hides the person’s content from you, but also hides your content from them. The latter they can easily circumvent by logging out of their account and viewing the forum as a guest.
There is a setting in your profile to control that.

Thank you. That is indeed a useful feature and one that I wish more sites would do. I like being able to control who see's what I post too. If I block someone, theres a good reason for it and I should be able to prevent them from seeing my posts too, not just stop seeing their BS. Glad to see this site gets it unlike so many others.

The flaw in the blocking feature is that is a way for some to hide from being fact checked.

If someone posts BS and missinformations and you try bring it to the attention to the public all he has to do is block you so you cannot see his posts and he's free to spew BS without being exposed.

Extremely flawed feature, ....if you block someone you should only not see HIS posts, not be able to hide.

Not fully. For example, midneight blocked me (then called me out again and ran his mouth after that.) I still saw what he said via the mail notifications.

Ive been chatting since the days of BBS's and IRC's. I chat in many areas and on many forums. The way the blocking feature is here is something that myself and a vast majority of people want it to work. We'v ebeen begging for this. If we block someone, we also want to ensure they cant see or respond to what we post. We want to limit our audience.

Now that also comes with a measure of responsibility and maturity. If I block someone, I dont talk about them, run my mouth about them. Heck even if I know someone doesnt like me, I leave them be out of courtesy and a measure of respect. I do this Even if I don't respect them at all for how theyve acted.

Yes! And Yes!

Blocking somebody cuz they hurt your ego when they called out your BS is pretty infantile. Only one-upped by then throwing disparaging remarks out against that person that can now no longer even leave a rebuttal to your ego-strokes. Perfect example of throwing insults from behind the safety of your mommas apron!!!

Well he should be blocked for you not to see his posts,
but if you post BS he should be able to see it and respond so others can see but you are ok and not see it,..otherwise it's just an easy way to hide, keep blocking those that fact check you and you are able to post missinformation and stuff without being called out,

yes extremely flawed feature,...unless you need to hide then it's perfect.
