here's a side by side look at the MKI & MKII. notice no anti-beartrap lever or grooves on the MKI sliding breech.

It is my understanding that the MK1 and 2 have the same stroke with just the addition of the anti-beartrap on mk2. I have bought a mk2 piston to try on one of my mk3's but haven't got to it yet. That is a gorgeous rifle!!
