Brand new to PCP rifles - take it easy please😁

So...I just spent a few days at the Whittington Center in Raton New Mexico - then hunted Pronghorn Antelope nearby.

While at the Whit. Ctr. - I was shown an Avenger air rifle, and compressor...long story short - it came home along with my antelope...:)

I am anxious to learn about air rifles, target and hunting. I am active in centerfire shooting and a member of a range in South Carolina that we can shoot out to 1000 yds. everyday and 1 mile certain days.

Look forward to learning from you all!

Welcome! It will surely not be your last purchase lol. If you like tinkering around, it's a good platform to do it with, it can also be a great shooter.

I have a feeling that a crack addiction might be more economical… and there are treatment centers when you want to quit…😁

Never shoot your pcp without air in it.
Moisture trap for your compressor.

Things people always assume others will know.

Good luck. You ll have a lot of fun
Thank you for wise admonishment about the not firing without a charge and on the moisture trap. Thank you kindly. Every sport/hobby/endeavor has a number of “keyboard commandos”- I try hard to never be percieved as one, and I have strive to be…. diplomatic in my questioning as well as any declarative statements😁

Tees,
Welcome, nicest, kindest members here you'd ever want to meet. Rude, disrespectful know-it-alls can have a problem, you don't sound like one, so, no worries. WM
Yes sir - I pick up on the vibe here as “ neighborly” and I try to avoid mixing stress/aggravation with anything I do for fun- so I try to go out of my way to be a good member of anything I participate in.
Thanks for the encouragement!

Warning, this is a highly addictive, wallet-flattening hobby, and we just love it. Feel free to avail yourself of member help, many have walked the path ahead of you and are glad to share experiences. WM

Welcome to a very valuable and knowledge filled forum. They have everyone from the Pro's to some really helpful Joe's on here .Congrats on the pronghorn and the pcp haha. Penrose as in near Little River/ DuPont area or there abouts ? I used to trout fish out in the area years ago haha.

Teesquare there is an airgun show that happens once a year this weekend ( Friday and Saturday ) up in Hickory NC . Probabley a couple hours or a little more from your area. Quite a few of the guys from the forums and a few dealers will be there. It is a great place to find some good deals at times just so you are aware. It is pretty much the only thing that happens semi local around here where you can get your hands on the plethora of airguns and check out the classics as well.

Just wanted you to have the heads up incase you were interested .

:coffee:

Welcome! I recently joined AGN earlier this year or maybe last year now, idk. It's a great community as others have already mentioned. You can always expect an honest answer to your question and find help when you're in a pickle.
Not like other forums that have been around for so long the only response is "Did you try the search bar and the stickies first?"

Have fun! Hopefully your wallet doesn't start straining too much, you can really go down the rabbit hole and buy lots of cool stuff that you don't necessarily need 😬

Welcome aboard! What a great time for you to "catch the bug"! The options available to you can be overwhelming but this is a site overwhelmingly populated by kind, generous & knowledgeable people. The learning curve can be steep but there's no better place to be for answers. Welcome again.
BTW, there are a ton of important posts on Avengers and compressor care, maintenance & operation here. Never underestimate High Pressure Air. Be safe & Happy learning!

Congrats on the new rifle and addiction. This forum is a wealth of knowledge. I got started myself recently and was hooked after attending my first field target match.
