Using Or Have Used A DonnyFL Sumo?

The DonnyFL Sumo was recommended to me for my FX Impact M3 .25/600mm. I started looking around on the AGN classified listings for one and found many listed and sold. If you sold one, why? And what did you replace it with? If you are using one now, do you like it? Do you find it quieter than others you may have used? I'm looking for something quieter than my DonnyFL-FX that I bought with the gun.

I own several of the Sumo, Tanto and other Donny Fl moderators. I have one on my .22 Impact MKIII. Seems to do as well as any of the moderators in my collection.
Thanks bdzjlz. I'm looking for something significantly quieter than the DonnyFL-FX which is close to the tanto. Is your Sumo a lot quieter tyhan your Tanto?

I use a Sumo 22-25 on a PP700 22 16gr shooting 730 fps. It makes the pistol carbine completely backyard safe. I’m very happy with it. I tried a Tanto first, but it didn’t get me to an acceptable level for night pesting imo.

I used to have my sumo on my pp700 also as it was the only thing that would quiet it down.. i bought mine used and the guy included some of the stock baffles they sell with the gun.. it comes with 4 stackable baffles.. wasn't the sound I was going for.. but i found some more on here and added 3 more and it worked better than the sumo.. barely any report from the muzzle.. albeit it's about 2 inches longer than the sumo in this configuration, but way more quiet.. the added length help me from clipping the window frame when I shoot out of the window.. 😁😁

The only one you mentioned is the Sumo - does it have stackable baffles or did you mean something else?

I had the Donny fx moderator on my 700mm impact shooting 25g jsb at 940fps and it worked great.. very quiet.. I then bought a sumo to try out and it was definitely more quiet but not like night and day.. then I switched to a 500mm barrel and had to up the regulator to get the velocity back up and that made the gun louder with the FX moderator so I put the sumo on and it shut it right up.. I tried the tanto with the 700mm barrel.. it didn't do as well as the FX moderator in my opinion.. just changed the pitch of the air and was still louder.. maybe the extra 4 inches of shroud from your 600 to my 700 makes a big difference... But I think that you'll like the sumo vs the FX moderator.. i have the FX on my panthera compact but looking to get something a little shorter and fatter.. the sumo works great on the panthera as well.. very loud gun..

the bigger the exit hole, the more air escaping with the pellet and more sound.

Oversize muffler bores may not have as much of a detrimental effect on sound reduction, as common wisdom suggests: Notice that the smallest baffle bore is not always the quietest (applies to dB measured from the side, here): https://www.airgunnation.com/threads/22-ldc-bore-clearance-study-print-files.1300099/post-1608302

How is that possible? This tech provides a potential clue to the mechanism at play: https://techlinkcenter.org/technolo...enuation/a2cef892-1ab8-45d2-80c8-c29857621326
