FX NRL22 with an air rifle

I think that slug will be best.

Slug for sure, but you can use a pellet. I was using pellets with in my .25 EdGun R5M and did well with it. Just make sure you know your dope and really get comfortable moving and shooting on a time limit.

The target sizes change month to month. I believe one month there was a 2" target at 100 yards, and the next it was a 3". At minimum I would ensure you can hit a 1.5" target at 100 yards easily. Then practice shooting off unstable surfaces. Typically this is what stumps people and throws them odd. Also get used to identifying targets quickly and locating them in your scope.

I thought NRL22 matches were out to 200 yards?

Nrl22 is 100yds for the 5 required stages they put out each month but after that it's up to the md. I shoot prs rimfire and we shoot out to 250. Shoot slugs as fast as your gun will allow and as heavy as possible. You are already at a disadvantage with the rimfires. A pellets bc is pathetic and your wind calls better be spot on. I've done it with air rifle and 22s they both are fun. Nrl22 allows up to 35cal and 62grains and slugs.

most targets are not 100 yards , all different ranges and positions timed .

My Crown MK2 .22 600mm shoots great with the .218” NSA 24.8 grain slug at about 940 fps. That slug will keep up with the JSB 18.13 as far as precision accuracy goes up till about 60-70 yards and then the slug takes over and leaves the pellets behind. Barring really strong winds it will very consistently hit a 1.5“ target at 100 yards.

I would use the fastest slug with a good BC and the best accuracy. So that might mean dropping slug weight a little depending on your rifle. I would start with Nielsens.

Yeah nrl22 has a little more freedom with the air rifle where as PRS air rifle you can use slugs in 22 and 25 limit of 49gr and 30 cal max with pellets only up to 50gr.

Yeah everyone after the match wants to shoot my gun and I let them tell my tank is out of air or I'm out of slugs-lol. People so freak out when you tell them what the gun costs. My Vulcan 3 is still cheaper than all the vudoos and rimx with chassis running around. Although I'm getting ready to get that talon tune chassis for my Vulcan 3 in 700mm to add some more weight and the arca rail attachment. Probably get some fat bastard weights. My buddy Derrick Wall just set his up and it's about 16lbs which is pretty good weight and it balances well
