My Aussie Coon Dog...Unreal

My Australian Shepard last year was introduced to coons in the apple trees. I knocked 3 out with my .30 cal Hatsan, semi-auto. He was just 2 years old but he ripped into on of the coons like crazy. I play tug-a-war with him and it paid off the night.
This morning I let him out around 630 and he didn't come back in for over a half hour. I got concerned and called him in. He was totally wired up. Something was up. He ran back out down to the lake and insisted that he had something going on. I put my slippers on and went out in the rain to see if it was for real. I looked up several trees and saw nothing...Rowdy kept running over to the spruce tree.. so I walked over there...sure enough! A big coon was hanging out up there about 20 feet up.

My wife just came to bed so I'll have to tell the rest of the story tomorrow. Unreal! Love Rowdy!

Dogs are amazing hunter/trackers.
My Jack recovers any rodent I take in my yard. Mice can be hard to recover in long grass, not even a challenge for her. I love watching her work

There's nothing like going out on November and December nights with a hound that barks trail and starts chopping when it barks tree. The first few bawls when they open up always get you going. Stirring. A really great way to experience the thrill of the outdoors. Unforgettable. And don't think you will not get mixed up in the big woods at night without a compass. You will. All of a sudden you see a car coming down through the woods where there isn't a road! Then you realize the woods and terrain twisted your mind again.
