I took delivery of a new .25 FX King last week from UTAH Airguns. The purchase experience was fine though I was surprised when all of my discussions and items purchased centered around shooting 37 grain ZAN and 40 Grain heavy slugs and it arrived tested for 33.95 gr pellets with the reg set at only 120 BAR. Obviously, too low for the heavier slugs. But to their credit, I received good technical support and have it throwing the ZANs now around 970 and the Heavy Slug 40 grains around 940.
The rifle arrived in perfect condition - no leaks as reported by others. I already own a Panthera so not too many surprises were encountered. There is not a dedicated manual for the King included, it features the Panthera manual and there are some significant differences. For example, you can't see the regulator adjustment the way the stock is designed. One has to remove the trigger guard and look very closely and you can find it, but it isn't easily apparent.
It is beautiful in every regard. The Donny FL moderator fit perfectly as did the Hawke 6-24x56 Sidewinder in the Eagle Vision adjustable mounts. I mounted an Accu-Tac Bipod on the provided bottle clamp - works great, as well as the Eagle Vision level to avoid canting.
Initial testing of the 37 gr ZAN .250, the 40 gr H&N Heavy Slugs in both .249 and .250 produced 10 shot groups of 1.25 to 1.75 inches at 84 yards. I know it can do much better based upon my .22 Panthera experience but I ran out of time. I have ordered ZAN 35 Gr, ZAN 33 Gr., JSB Match Diablo Knockouts in 33.48 Gr, Patriot Javelins in 36 Gr, and NSA 33.5 and 34.9 Gr slugs to try as well, looking for that best performing combination, knowing that I many need to do some velocity adjustments as well.
Expect me to report back with some better technical data once I get further along with testing and tuning activities
