I like it Raw.....

It's always nice to have options. Decided to pull the .30 bbl from the Raw and install an almost new .25 bbl. One can switch calibers in 10 minutes. Didn't touch a thing in setting. The .25 push jsb 25.5 @ 960 fps for 53 fpe. The 25 bbl will soon be headed to AZ for the full bull shroud treatment.

Just so you know.... getting airgun stuff back from AZ these past 12 months has been... well.... damn near impossible. Promises promises but he has been building his own home and work shop all by himself... sometimes i think his son helps. Point is, myself and several others have been waiting MONTHS or even a year or more for our guns to be finished and returned.
AZ is one of the best airgun wizards in the USA but damn...

Quit having more fun than me Tommy!!!
Nice kit you have there, two rifles in one.
I waited almost a year for my AZ rifle, it’s hard to be patient but it’s worth the wait in my opinion.
The finished rifle or pistol is going to be incredible.
I’m waiting on a custom Steyr LP right now.
Here’s a picture of the house that he just got dried in.
Building it all himself, pretty impressive.
The wait on a gun can be brutal but it will be worth it.
Edit: Because lumber prices were beyond reasonable he had to design the house using cinder block.
So he spent many hours on line learning how to do it correctly so that it would meet code and inspection.
Both shambozzie and I have waited well over a year for a rifle.
We’ve even bitched about it to each other lol.
The wait is definitely worth it though.
Looking at the upper floor I can see a wonderful indoor shooting range that runs the full length of the house.
Don’t think his wife will go for it though lol!

Maybe depends on the gun? I sent them my old fx bobcat mk1 before the summer started and they got it back to me within 6 weeks.

Hey Shambozz,
No disrespect to AZ (no one can dispute the quality of his work), but I wouldn't/couldn't wait that long for anyone ........... especially when most of the moderator issues can be made in your home shop.
- IMO, the shroud's looks aren't an improvement over thicker CFT and a nice LDC.

He did a complete barrel shroud and tune for me back in June.
I had it back inside of three weeks.

Very similar situation a year earlier.

I don't like the canned muffle look on barrels. The full shroud look better and improve accuracy a tad. He did my Rapid .20 also. The wait is worth the perfection.

Good morning SpiralGroove. What can you tell me about that collar that is around your moderator in a couple of these photos? Is that something for harmonic tuning? Thanks,
Kenny

Yeah, this is a way to achieve harmonic tuning on a budget.
It's a simple way to achieve what the FX barrel tuner can give. However, adjustments are crude relative to a FX tuner.
But once you find the spot - you've found it.

Can’t say that has been my experience when I asked him to shroud my RAW HM1000x. I sent the rifle 11/15/23 and got it back 01/05/24, which I consider good turnaround given the holidays and the home building, which he is still doing. He’d shrouded the gun making it from backyard-impossible-to-shoot to the quietest gun compared to my Tarantula, M-3 and Crown while also tuning it for good measure. Might be helpful though to ask beforehand about an estimate of completion time as some jobs surely are more involved than others (shrouding appears to be more or less routine for him as he’d done plenty).

Yep, winter has come - and AZ has finished his major exterior "building projects" and yes he has been knocking out a huge backlog of custom airgun work; he's getting it out the door quickly now ....
Expectations customers place upon a self employed businessman may or may not be realistic especially if the upfront communications and or promises were not realistic to begin with.
My final take on the situation is, a custom shop still needs to run like a business and thus maintain realistic production schedules based on realistic promises. If and when things go sideways - for whatever reason - customers need timely updates and should have the choice of continued waiting or to have their property returned. Simple.
AZ's work is absolutely amazing and it is worth the wait...so if someone is in the market for AZ's skills (or anyone's custom work) they should be aware of possible delays and establish realistic time periods up front....
