winter shooting

thinking about constructing a winter shooting BOX ? temporary ,maybe a frame with the pink foam insulation 4x8 's , that i can store flat for warmer weather . Let everybody know
if this works out . just an idea right now , best idea so far was the moving pad draped over a table and a small heater but that involves setup and take down all the time .

Here in the northeast, I used a spare bedroom for winter shooting in my old house. Don't have that luxury in my current house so I built a pellet trap out of a 12 gallon tote so I can shoot in the basement. However, the basement has an odd layout so I'm limited to less than 10 yds. Definitely a bummer. Will prolly have to limit my shooting to pistols only. Better than nothing at all, I guess. I just don't like the cold weather so no interest in roughing it outside to shoot.

I keep the snow off of the shooting bench hoping for a mild day. Get lucky sometime; mostly I dash outside, shoot a mag and run back in before sensitive parts of my anatomy freeze. 😁

Winter in Canada is indoor shooting season when my pistols and 10 meter guns get the most use.

I used enjoy winter - ice fishing, skiing and such. Too old for that stuff now so I tie flies, make lures and shoot paper while I'm waiting for spring.

The secret is to buy more guns. That way, if you cant shoot due to cold, you are at a minimum screwing around with your guns during the winter...modifying, resealing, scope swapping, etc, etc...

Been mild here. low 50's... but last couple days we've been in the 30's. Not a fan. I know those up north are thinking 30's is short sleeve weather, though.

30's and low 40's today with a 8 - 10 mph wind. Yea , a little chilly ! I head out to the shooting bench for 10 to 15 minutes , then back in the man cave to commiserate while warming my ancient bones in front of the wood stove. Life is good ! After a while, I'll venture back out and destroy some cans and other targets.

We have a blizzard warning in effect for our area of the West! Got me thinking about my snow blower, gas, shovels and such. But also about shooting and continued tuning on my new U2 this week. If the amount of snow we are predicted to get holds true, I'll have to use the blower not only for access out to the county road, but also to cut a path out to my target stand! Gotta have priorities, right?

At least my Winter shooting 'shack' is nice & warm! It's shooting out the window from a corner in my fly tying & reloading room!

There's a thread or 2 that guys using them pop up ice portable fishing tents with space heaters in side .. I thought not bad at all if I was upper usa with ice and snow .. looked comfy..🤤
