PCP FILL PROBLEM

I am trying to fill my new Hatsan Bullboss.
I am using an air compressor.
Hooked eveything up and filled the tank on the gun.
I shut the pump off at 20 bar which the guage on the gun showed at 20 also.
Opened the air release valve on the compressor to take the air hose off
but the tank on the gun emptied also. tried it twice.
What am I doing wrong ?
Thanks Jeff

Hey Jeff.

First off, 20 bar is very low pressure. Since I assume the gun is new, you should try filling it up to at least minimum operating pressure to seat the valves before bleeding off. I’ve owned a couple Hatsans that needed a good high pressure blast to get them seated.

After that, make sure you’re bleeding the compressor faster, as in opening it to let air escape in a single quick motion instead of bleeding it slowly. If you bleed it too slowly, the shut off valve in the rifle may not close completely.

Let us know if this works.

Could be that the "20" is what the gauge says but that is because it is readings 10s of bar. So it is really 200 bar.

Does the gauge on the gun rise, is it where you read the "20" or is that a reading on the compressor. If it is the latter try it reading the gun. If the gun does not go up then cock the gun and try again. But if it is the gun reading before you vent the compressor then it is the one way valve on the gun. I don't know how those work on Hatsans. On my SPAs, the one way valve is an O-ring on a screw over a hole. Very easy to fix.

It is a PCP air compressor correct?
