Introduction

Hello everyone,
Just wanted to reach out and say hey. I’m Tom, I live in Spokane Valley Washington. I am newer to the air, gunning sport, but at 57. I’ve been shooting guns for the last 45 years. I decided to get into airgun for multiple reasons, but primarily, the cost of ammunition.
I have the umarex gauntlet 2 and 30 caliber. And the Springfield M1 in 22 caliber and a handful of other brake barrels and CO2 powered air guns.
I would love to find other people around me that are interested in air, gunning, and where good places to shoot in Spokane can be found
It’s difficult to find shooting places as it is not legal to even shoot a BB gun in your backyard in Spokane County
Great to be here!!!

Hi Tom & WELCOME! About the same story for me too. Out here in SD, we still ride horses, chase buffalo, and covet the rare jackalope. For the most part, political setting is great and with that, lots of shooting options still going okay. When I was a kid, I was able to easily walk freely in the small community and hunt pest birds. My Dad and Grandpa had fire breather dragons hanging in the rack off the back truck window --- ready to go, and same at school for some students driving in.

I am old enough to remember Spokane as practically an FT mecca, Tom Price and friends. Air rifles in 55gal drums for $50.00 ..... good times.
Likely changed but it ( '003) Was still legal to shoot in Spokane "county" with some cities restricting. Deer Park legal to shoot IF pellet can not leave property. We had a 49 yard range with the House as a fail proof final backstop, no issue. The Sheriffs loved it and airguns.
Anyway were I you I ( and thinking you have not handled a lot of airguns) wouhttps://www.airgunnation.com/threads/went-to-our-local-brick-mortar-airgun-retailer-in-colville-wa-today-pics.1300031/#post-159912ld plan a trip to Colville. Yup.
And if you like you can stop by our place 1st. We are directly on your route North. Have a gravel pit you ( after speaking a bit naturally) could shoot anything in and a 200+yard front yard we shoot airguns in (tho not too often anymore).
Anyway Jennens in Colville: https://www.airgunnation.com/thread...-colville-wa-today-pics.1300031/#post-1599120
Might just be a spot of fun for you. And heck local sales we might have a dusty lower budget airgun for sale (shipping is a real bummer these day's $$$ ).

Have fun!

John

Welcome Tom, this is a great forum with lots of helpful folks.
If I were you I’d set up a short indoor range for shooting at home!
I shoot into pellet traps at 7 and 9 yards from the recliner, it’s not as fun as shooting outside but it’s still shooting!
Comments welcome on the errant holes above the trap, it was pretty windy lol!

Thank you. Glad to be here. Definitely looking at doing that. I have kind of circumvented the system by setting up an area inside my shop and I shoot to outside against a cardboard target a couple sheets of plywood and a metal plate. When I shoot my 30 caliber it’s still pretty loud from the pellet hitting the metal plate. Even two sheets of plywood doesn’t stop that 30 caliber out of a gauntlet 2 . Problem is that gauntlet is still pretty loud. I made my own moderator for it which helps a lot but it still got a nice whack.
I also set up a little range inside my house as you suggested. That way I can shoot my handguns.

Welcome to AGN! Another suggestion for an indoor range is to use duct seal inside of the target box. This makes for a very quiet shooting box. I use an awl to pick out the pellets after a shooting session.
Great idea thank you
Welcome to AGN.
There’s many knowledgeable and helpful people here which will help when making your next airgun purchase.
yeah, I can see that. And I very much appreciate it. I am always up for something new. I just finished siding in my new dynamic air rifle in .25 caliber. It’s actually a tack driver. Aside from it being a little rough cycling. And that could be the pellets I will find out next time. I am so far super happy with it. I put a buck rail moderator on it, and it is very quiet.
