It depends what you want to do. Rust-Oleum and Krylon are great but pricey as are the Day-glo colors. I used them sparingly. Light thin coats are good. Flat paint looks the best. For black and white paint I bought the cheapest I could find like WalMart stuff. Those of you who do detail work on your targets you can use peramanent markers and paint pens and model paint from a hobby shop. When I was painting over something I used ti wait a few days to make sure it was totally dry.
I always thought it was fun to make the targets look nice ( you don't have to be a "Norman Rockwell").

The super cheap paint is NOT a bargain - very thin, seems to be more propellant than paint. I look for anything that's about $4 a can.

I buy the cheapest paint Lowe’s has on the shelf. I probably should check Dollar General though.

Nothing is cheap any more. Buying cheap paint usually ends with poor results, been there done that. Nothing worse than saving two dollars and then 3/4's of the can will not spray at the range.
I use a flat white then florescent orange. Rust Oleum seems to last the longest and I get the most paint out of the can.

I don’t even bother letting it dry before sending lead at steel. Don’t think at makes any cosmetic difference in the end.

I have a bunch of dayglo marking paint from a buddy. It sprays upside down, but the colors and price is right. It dries very quickly.

Whatever is on sale. I shoot the "rat on the stick" metal targets from air venturi. I like white, neon green, yellow, and orange for kz paddle color. In the winter I change the face plate color to black, in summer I use white. Having 20 plus targets on my range, I'm always touching up.
